About Jennifer

Ms. Holt is an established Registered Psychotherapist with over two decades of experience in professional practice. Over the past 26 years, she has specialized in working with individuals (adults and youth, male, female, transgender, and non-binary) who may be involved with the legal system. They may have done something of a sexual nature that has gotten them into trouble, or have engaged in aggressive/violent behaviour towards their intimate partner. She has assisted families navigate the challenges of safety planning as they seek to reunify. Ms. Holt has spent time working with the "non-offending parent" (counselling for the spouse of the person who has been charged with a sexual based offence). She has been privileged to help these clients navigate the range of emotions that come as a result of their spouse’s behaviours; some chose to remain in their relationship, others chose to leave. Many of the clients Ms. Holt works with are dealing with stressors and trauma (such as sexual abuse from the past, or present), mental health difficulties (such as depression or anxiety), they may be struggling with relationship issues or be struggling with anger management issues. Over the years, Ms. Holt has assisted many people in choosing to become responsible for the behaviours they have engaged in which have hurt both themselves and others. She has journeyed with them as they learned how to lead a "good life" - a life free from abuse. Further, Ms. Holt is experienced working with Indigenous populations and issues relevant to Indigenous persons. In order to best assist her clients, she uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR); person-centered therapy; and Motivational Interviewing Techniques. Ms. Holt is a Registered Psychotherapist through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and is registered as a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She is also a Clinical Member in good standing with the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA). Personally, Ms. Holt enjoys spending time outside running with her dog– she has completed nine marathons over the years. She also find a great deal of peace in her gardens, and spending time camping, hiking, and travelling with her family.
