About Hope

Hi, I’m Hope Finlayson, a Graduate Counseling Intern and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). I am passionate about supporting youth and young athletes who are navigating academic, sport, and social pressures. I work with young people experiencing anxiety, stress, friendship or relationship challenges, confidence struggles, and the impact of social media and cyberbullying. I believe therapy should feel relatable, supportive, and empowering. My approach is strengths-based and focused on helping young people build confidence, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and develop meaningful social connections. I integrate CBT and DBT-informed approaches with movement and physical activity-based interventions, recognizing the importance of the mind-body connection and the positive role recreation and socialization can play in mental health. I have a special interest in supporting youth navigating the pressures of academics, athletics, and social media. My goal is to help clients build coping skills, resilience, and confidence that can be carried into everyday life. Outside of counseling, I enjoy watching hockey, trying new coffee shops, and catching up with friends!
