About Henna
Henna Hans is a Associate Counsellor who holds a Master of Education in Counselling
Psychology from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary.
Her experience includes work in private practice and community-based organizations supporting diverse
individuals, including those impacted by domestic violence.
Henna is particularly drawn to exploring how early life experiences, relationships, identity, culture, and
the expectations we carry shape how we understand ourselves and relate to others. She believes that
feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood can be an important part of healing and approaches therapy
with warmth, curiosity, compassion, and respect. While Henna brings her clinical knowledge into the
room, she believes clients are the experts on their own lives and works collaboratively to understand what
matters most to them. She recognizes the courage and vulnerability it can take to share the parts of
ourselves that feel difficult or complicated, and considers it a privilege to be trusted with those
experiences.
Henna’s approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based. She
draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and somatic
approaches, adapting therapy to the individual. She is also completing training toward becoming a
Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), reflecting her interest in understanding how our experiences
can be held not only in our thoughts and emotions, but also in our bodies. Through her work, Henna
hopes to foster greater self-understanding and self-compassion, helping clients relate to themselves and
their experiences with more kindness and curiosity.
Above all, Henna values the relationship at the heart of therapy. She balances meaningful exploration
with practical support and believes therapy can hold both difficult conversations and moments of
lightness. Bringing authenticity and humour into the room, Henna aims to create a space where clients
feel comfortable being themselves as they make sense of patterns, navigate challenges, and move towards
meaningful change.
Outside of the therapy room, Henna can often be found spending time with family and friends, getting
absorbed in an arts and crafts project or a good fiction book, and swimming. She also appreciates the
quieter moments in between and finds small ways to slow down and enjoy everyday life. Henna is fluent
in English, Punjabi, and Hindi.
