About Harmesh

Harmesh brings over 25 years of nursing experience, supported by both international and Canadian education. She began her career in India, where she worked for four years in neonatal and medical units, building a strong foundation in acute care. After immigrating to Canada in 2001, Harmesh joined The Ottawa Hospital (Civic Campus), providing care on medical and orthopedic units to pre- and post-operative patients. In 2010, she transitioned to long-term care with the City of Ottawa, where she supported residents with complex acute and chronic conditions, including geriatric and cognitively impaired populations. During this time, she earned her Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN) certification, enhancing her expertise in wound prevention and management. Harmesh later expanded her clinical experience into community nursing with Carefor, delivering comprehensive home care services, including complex wound and dressing care, pain and symptom management, as well as palliative and post-surgical support. In 2024, she began working at the Brockville Mental Health Centre / St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre, where she leads interdisciplinary care teams within a high-security mental health unit. Her role includes providing acute nursing care, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation services to forensic psychiatric patients. Throughout her career, Harmesh has demonstrated adaptability, clinical excellence, and compassionate care across diverse healthcare settings. She has extensive experience in wound care, particularly through her work in long-term care and community nursing, with a strong focus on seniors requiring diabetic foot care. Her dedication to preventative care, comprehensive foot assessments, and ongoing wound management led her to complete her Advanced Foot Care Nurse certification in 2025, further strengthening her commitment to specialized foot health.
