About Hamid
Hamid Afshar is a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Vancouver with over 20 years of experience in medical psychology and mental health consultation. His clinical work focuses on stress-related and functional disorders, including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and addictive disorders.
He has a particular interest in working with individuals living with chronic health conditions such as fibromyalgia, migraines, chronic back pain, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other persistent pain conditions. His work is informed by a mind–body perspective, recognizing the close interaction between psychological processes, stress, and physical health.
Hamid’s therapeutic approach integrates lifestyle-based interventions with evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapies, psychoeducation, and relaxation training.
