With four years of professional experience in the mental health field, I spent two years implementing behavioral and mental health programs in educational settings, and another two years working as a psychologist in a non-profit organization. I specialize in supporting youth and young adults navigating challenges related to life transitions, gender identity, anxiety, depression, boundaries, healthy relationships, and coping strategies, and more. My therapeutic approach begins with building a strong, trusting relationship with each client, as I believe this foundation is key to effective therapy. I prioritize person-centered therapy, tailoring each session to the individual’s unique needs. Once a safe and trusting environment is established, we collaborate to determine the most suitable therapeutic strategies for their unique circumstances. I incorporate a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, solution-focused techniques, and strength-based care, adapting my methods to best address the issues at hand. #####I emphasize creating a warm, safe, and trusting environment where clients can explore their needs and goals for change. I believe that beneath every behaviour lies a feeling, and beneath each feeling is an underlying need. By addressing these needs, rather than focusing solely on behaviors, we can effectively tackle the root causes of challenges and foster deeper healing and growth. In sessions, I work alongside clients to facilitate meaningful changes, offering encouragement and support. My goal is to be a reliable source of guidance, helping clients become empowered through psychoeducation and equipping them to navigate challenges independently. #####I believe that every client’s unique background and identity play a crucial role in their therapeutic journey, and I strive to integrate this understanding into my practice. I primarily work with individual (adult and youth 10+) clients addressing a range of concerns such as attachment and relationship issues, boundaries, identity development, gender dysphoria, anxiety, depression, and self-harm. My approach is informed by a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences while drawing on evidence-based modalities. I also have a strong background in 2SLGBTQIA+ issues and a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, which enhances my ability to provide culturally sensitive care. #####My motivation and passion for being a psychologist stem from a deep commitment to supporting individuals in their journey toward mental well-being and personal growth. Witnessing the transformative power of therapy inspires me daily, as I believe that everyone has the potential to overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives. I am particularly drawn to working with youth and young adults, as I recognize the profound impact that early interventions can have on shaping their futures. The opportunity to create a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, develop thriving skills, and foster resilience is incredibly fulfilling. I am dedicated to helping others navigate their unique struggles, and I find immense joy in being a catalyst for positive change in their lives. #####My personal interests are diverse and continually evolving. I have a strong appreciation for the outdoors and nature, particularly the mountains. Sports play a significant role in my life; I enjoy both participating in and watching various sports, and I dedicate every Sunday to watching football with my husband. I cherish quality time with friends and family, yet I equally value moments of solitude at home, where I can curl up on the couch with a captivating romantic fantasy novel, with my cats and a cup of coffee. Winter is my favorite season! I find joy in its unique beauty and atmosphere, and also love the opportunity to wear cozy sweaters. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and helping you cultivate a life where you can truly thrive. Your experiences and feelings are important, and I am here to provide guidance and understanding as we work together toward your goals. ####Educational Background - Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) - Yorkville University - Bachelor of Arts (BA) with Psychology Major - Athabasca University ####Presenting Concerns - ADHD/Inattention, Impulsivity, Hyperactivity - Adjusting to Change - Adolescent Issues - Anxiety - Attachment Issues - Body Image - Breakup - Bullying - Communication - Connection - Coping - Depression - Diet Culture - Emotional Intelligence - Emotional Overwhelm - Emotional Regulation - Emptiness - Exercise - Fatigue - Fear - Forgiveness - Grief, Loss, & Bereavement - Guilt - Helplessness - Identity - Inadequacy - 2SLGBTQIA+ Identities - Life Purpose - Life Challenges/Transitions - Perfectionism - Personal Development - Power/Control - Rejection - Relationships and Marriage - Seasonal Depression - Self-Actualization - Self-Care - Self-Compassion - Self-Criticism - Self-Doubt - Self-Esteem - Self-Harm - Self-Love - Self-Worth - Sensitivity to Criticism - Separation - Sexuality - Shame - Social Anxiety/Phobia - Stress - Suicide/Suicidal Ideation - Teenage Issues - Transitions - Values Clarification - Women’s Issues - Worry - Worthlessness - Young Adult Issues ####Approaches Used - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Attachment Based - Brief Therapy - Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) - Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Skills - Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - Humanistic - Integrative Counselling - Mindfully Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT) - Mindfulness - Multicultural - Person-Centered Therapy - Psychodynamic Therapy - Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) - Strength-Based Therapy ####Professional Associations/Regulatory Board - College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
