About Fanar

I’m a proud Kurdish-Canadian raised in a small city in northern Syria, and have been residing in the Cowichan Valley since 2017. Coming from a multicultural background, I speak Kurdish, Arabic, and English fluently. I am happily married and a proud father of two wonderful children. My family is my greatest joy, inspiration, and motivation. I am a West Coast College of Massage Therapy graduate, fulfilling my ambition to offer registered massage therapy to my clients at Purely Wellness. Prior to my journey in Canada, I worked as a Physiotherapist Assistant in Syria, where I gained 10 years of valuable experience. I graduated in 2005 and successfully ran my own wellness clinic offering rehabilitation therapy and reflexology until the onset of the war, which forced me to seek refuge in northern Iraq. Witnessing the plight of fellow refugees in camps, where they faced severe shortages of medicine and medical personnel, motivated me to join the non-governmental organization, PUI (Première Urgence Internationale). There, I served as a paramedic/medical assistant and provided support in health centers within the camps, eventually advancing to the role of Team Leader. In this capacity, I organized presentations to raise awareness about various health issues affecting refugee families. My unwavering goal is to help individuals regardless of their background, age, gender, or religion. I am dedicated to empowering people to regain their strength and health, walk with them through their wellness journey, and ensure they leave the clinic with a smile. I look forward to working with the diverse and welcoming community we have in the Cowichan Valley. I am thankful and appreciate this beautiful community, and offer my experience and service to promote health and well-being for all. Outside the scope of massage therapy, I love hiking, hunting, playing soccer, and spending time with loved ones and friends.
