About Dylan
Do you ever feel like you have been stuck in a loop and no matter what you have tried in the past, nothing has worked? Do you feel like you have been dealt a raw deal in life and are unsure how it can be meaningful? Have you lost a loved one and are experiencing heartbreaking grief that does not seem like it will ever go away?
Sometimes life feels like everything can be too much to handle. The emotions, thoughts, and feelings that come up can be overwhelming. You might be feeling a bit lost and unsure of what to do and just want to feel better.
Therapy provides an opportunity to share anything that has been on your mind in a safe and supportive space. Using a client-centered, holistic, and collaborative approach, I help people process their emotions, thoughts, and feelings to help develop insight regarding the challenges they have been facing. I work with adults (18+) and older adults (60+). Everyone is different, so we will work together to find ways to help you live the life you want based on the values that are important to you.
My goal is to provide a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and seen. Having a strong therapeutic relationship is key, so it is my hope that a foundation of trust can be formed so that you feel comfortable discussing any of the challenges you may be facing.
It would be a pleasure to work with you, so please reach out so we can begin.
###About Dylan
Dylan is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). He works with adults (18+) and older adults (60+) who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and interpersonal or relational issues. He uses a client-centered and collaborative approach with every client, providing a sense of safety and warmth to enhance the therapeutic relationship. By using an integrative and evidenced-based approach, he draws from various modalities and theories such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, and Trauma-informed.
Dylan completed a Master of Arts degree in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University where he received extensive training to be able to work with a wide range of individuals struggling with various mental health challenges. He also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Saint Paul University Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre, where he completed the triage and intake process for new clients. This allowed him to further develop his counselling skills, providing a safe and supportive space for clients to share the challenges they have been going through.
Prior to this degree, Dylan also completed a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Science in Public Health and Health Systems from the University of Waterloo, and an Honor’s Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Psychology and Minor in Gerontology from the University of Ottawa. Given his thorough academic background, he has become quite knowledgeable regarding the aging process and the impact on the brain. His research mainly focused on how our emotions impact our memory and how well we live into old age.
Dylan has also worked for several years as a Part-time Professor at the University of Ottawa teaching the psychology of death and dying. He has a strong passion for helping people who have experienced the loss of a loved one, and particularly enjoys working with older adults and any age-related concerns they may be experiencing.
