Dr. Lam has lived in beautiful British Columbia for most of her life and grew up in Richmond. She attended the University of British Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology, then continued her studies at the University of Waterloo, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree. After receiving her doctorate, she was accepted to a hospital-based residency program in Ocular Disease with the Veterans Affairs Medical Facilities in Ohio, USA. While completing her residency program, Dr. Lam was an adjunct faculty member and a clinical instructor at the Ohio State University College of Optometry. Her passion for ocular disease and management led her to practice rural optometry in Williams Lake, BC for almost a decade before moving to Kamloops. While in the Cariboo, she provided travelling optometry service to remote locations without access to eye care (which included Tatla Lake, Anahim Lake, Bella Coola, Tsay Keh Dene) and a local retirement home and daycare. Dr. Lam wanted to be in a profession where she could serve both her local community and others globally. She had joined medical and eye care mission trips to Honduras, Peru, and Thailand. She also loves getting involved in the Kamloops community. She is currently the Adjudicator Representative for the Kamloops Festival of the Performing Arts and a pianist for a local choir. Dr. Lam loves to travel, craft and play her piano but her favourite thing in the world is raising her darling daughter with her husband under the supervision of their sweet cats, Jax and Archibald!
