About Nelson

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Choosing a therapist with solid credentials is important, but I also hope that my genuine warmth and non-judgmental, casual style will quickly allow you to feel comfortable seeking help. As a Clinical and Health Psychologist, I provide psychotherapy for adults with a broad range of presenting issues. These include depression, anxiety, insomnia, or managing challenging medical conditions such as cancer. Many of the individuals I work with are thoughtful, capable, and high-functioning in most areas of life, but find themselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated that things haven’t improved despite their efforts. With nearly 20 years of experience, I take a practical, straightforward approach focused on helping you understand what’s happening and what will actually move things forward. I maintain a focused caseload and work with a limited number of clients, allowing for a high level of care and attention. My work is grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a structured, evidence-based approach that focuses on identifying and changing patterns that maintain distress. Sessions are active, focused, and goal-oriented, with an emphasis on developing practical strategies that lead to meaningful, lasting change. I am the founder and Clinical Director of Connect Cognitive Therapy, where I lead a team committed to thoughtful, evidence-based, and compassionate care. I completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at McGill University and have worked extensively in hospital settings, including Trillium Health Partners, with teaching involvement through the University of Toronto.
