About Jerry

Dr. Jerry Lam is an Advanced Certified Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) Doctor in Victoria with a clinical focus on postural and spinal alignment correction, spinal deformities, whiplash and motor vehicle injuries (ICBC/MVC), sports injuries, and long-term spinal health. His approach is built on a simple principle: Symptoms are important—but they are not always the whole problem. Pain and other symptoms may be the reason you seek care, but they do not always tell the complete story of what is happening with your spine and movement system. For patients with persistent or recurrent problems, Dr. Lam’s approach is to identify the underlying structural and biomechanical factors that may be contributing to the problem and address them systematically so result can last. What to Expect From Your Care Care with Dr. Lam begins with a comprehensive assessment, rather than simply treating the area that hurts. Depending on your presentation, this may include posture and movement analysis, neurological and orthopedic examination, and clinically indicated X-ray-based structural assessment. Your findings are then reviewed with you so that you understand: * What may be contributing to your symptoms * Whether there are underlying structural or postural findings that should be addressed * What can realistically be improved * What type of care may be appropriate for your individual situation Treatment is generally organized into three stages, although not every patient will require every stage or spend the same amount of time in each one. 1.Symptom-Focused Care The initial priority is to reduce pain and irritation, improve mobility and function, and help you return to normal daily activities. This phase is focused on helping you feel and function better—not simply masking symptoms. 2.CBP® Corrective Care If your assessment identifies meaningful structural or postural abnormalities that are appropriate for correction, care may progress into a more comprehensive Chiropractic BioPhysics® corrective program. CBP® is a technique and rehabilitation approach that combines spinal adjustments, specific traction procedures, posture rehabilitation, and corrective exercises with the goal of producing measurable changes in spinal alignment and function. Corrective care is individualized. There is no universal number of visits required to achieve a particular correction. Some structural problems may respond more quickly, while others may require a longer period of consistent care. Progress is monitored through objective findings, functional changes, and—when appropriate—repeat structural assessment. The goal is not simply to make you feel better temporarily, but to work toward the best realistic structural and functional outcome for your individual presentation. 3.Wellness & Stability Care Once an appropriate level of correction and functional improvement has been achieved, the focus can transition from active correction to maintaining the improvements you’ve made. Wellness and stability care is individualized and may include periodic chiropractic care, exercise, mobility, posture strategies, and other recommendations based on your needs and goals. A Multimodal, Evidence-Informed Approach Dr. Lam utilizes an integrated approach that may include: * Manual and instrument-assisted chiropractic adjustments * Multi-directional CBP® spinal traction * Spinal decompression * Postural rehabilitation and corrective exercise * Shockwave therapy * Photobiomodulation / laser therapy Not every treatment is appropriate for every patient. Recommendations are based on the clinical findings, goals, and response to care. Dr. Lam is a Gold Member of the Chiropractic BioPhysics® Non-Profit, an organization dedicated to advancing CBP® research and education, and is also a member of the International Chiropractic Association (ICA) and the Chiropractic Defense Council. He is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and accepts ICBC patients. Outside the clinic, Dr. Lam is a black belt Judo coach and member of the University of Victoria Judo Club. He remains committed to ongoing postgraduate education, clinical training, and evidence-informed practice to continually improve the care he provides to his patients and community. Before You Book An assessment with Dr. Lam is the starting point of the process—not a commitment to a predetermined treatment plan. The purpose of the assessment is to determine what is actually going on, what can be improved, and what level of care is appropriate for you. If your primary goal is simply short-term symptom relief, that will be addressed. However, if your assessment identifies an underlying structural or postural problem that warrants correction, Dr. Lam will explain the corrective options and what that process may involve. The objective is to match the level and duration of care to the problem—not to put every patient through the same treatment plan.

Dr. Jerry Lam and staff were wonderful. I've had heel pain for several months and stretching exercises were not relieving it. Dr. Lam spent time to evaluate what was going on when I walk, not just focusing on the foot. After 4 shock wave sessions, and a small adjustment, the pain is finally subsiding.

After a month of seeing no improvement, I decided to visit a chiropractor for the first time about my swollen/sprained ankle. Dr. Kennedy was knowledgeable and understanding. He walked me through my x ray, explained what likely happened, went over possible treatments, and even showed me diagrams of the muscles involved. Throughout my sessions, Dr. Lam was professional and empathetic. He explained each step of the plan, session by session, and always listened to my concerns. He took the time to describe the healing process and answered all my questions. I was relieved to finally see noticeable improvement after about two weeks. The clinic staff were also professional and kind. Every time I arrived, the place felt calm and relaxing, which made the whole experience easier. Overall, a great team.

When I first went to BetterBack Clinic at Cedar Hill Sports Therapy, I could barely walk because of my spinal injury, herniated discs and pulled muscles. Red light therapy and Laser treatment was recommended. So presently I'm in the middle of receiving my first 10 treatments. (They do an evaluation after 10 treatments, and follow with more treatment if necessary). Red light and Lazer therapy is not like chiropractic adjustments that often give instant relief. Rather, when you receive your first treatment, the effect is not obvious at first, but healing continues to benefit you for a couple of days after treatment. Each successive treatment builds on the previous treatment, so you feel an accumulative beneficial effect. It's not sudden but it is steady. After only a few treatments my mobility is quite noticeably better, and it is continuing to improve. I am beginning to feel hopeful that soon I will be able to walk without pain or restriction. This is unbelievable considering I could barely walk when I started and I was in excruciating pain constantly. My physical injury is multi-facilitated, and yet good results were felt from the first treatment, with more improvement with every treatment afterwards. The treatment itself is painless. Dr. Lam really cares about his patients, and he listens closely to the description you give about your pain. And he adjusts his treatment according to the feed back her gets from his patients. This is very reassuring.

I have been seeing Dr. Lam for quite some time now, as he has helped me tremendously with my mild scoliosis and sciatica. Recently, I experienced an emergency that left me with very limited mobility. I immediately knew I needed to see Dr. Lam, and he not only welcomed me with open arms but also made space and time for me when I needed it most. He used a new laser therapy treatment, and I saw major improvement in just three days, targeting the specific zone on my lower back. I feel so much better, can walk comfortably again, and am able to live my daily life more fully. I am now ready to return to school, and I could not be more grateful. Thank you, Dr. Lam!
