A few years ago, I was in my 20s and went to see Jennifer Viveiros after a gym incident that made my back stiff. At the appointment, I explained that I had a childhood spinal injury in my spine. She decided to skip doing an x-ray or any deeper assessment, saying "I know what you have" and proceeded to manipulate my spine using a cookie cutter approach. After the first session, I felt terrible pain, much worse than when I first went to see her. She said it was a normal part of healing, and it would get worse before getting better. After our second session, right after leaving the office, I felt horrible pain I have never felt before, like something in my back shifted, and my nerve got compressed for the first time in my life - so badly I could barely move. When I showed up a third time, Jennifer looked visibly annoyed(!) that my nerve was compressed, didn't bother to explain why that happened or take any responsibility, and proceeded with another spinal manipulation and neck manipulation too. After that, I stopped going to her. After a series of doctors, physiotherapists, xrays, and an MRI, it turns out whatever manipulation was carried out took me over the edge - where I had a weak spot, I got a bulged disc, which in turn caused severe spinal stenosis. Moreover, I have a genetic spinal fusion that an xray quickly showed that doesn't permit the type of manipulation carried out on me in the first place. I am a young woman and after this treatment, I can't bend - I need to use a grabber stick. I can't lift things - not even my child. I can't look over my shoulder because any rotation pushes me over the edge. I need to get WFH accommodation for every job because even carrying my work bag with a laptop is too much for me. I have a special cushion that I sit on, a pad to stand on, and endless physio equipment at home to simply get through my day. Every physiotherapist and doctor I have seen since has been dumbfounded that spinal manipulation was carried out without a deeper dive into my history and anatomy. Even if I did have an existing weakness, I never had back pain in my adult life except for the spinal stiffness after the gym for which I went to see Jennifer for. It was her job to help PREVENT any further injury, not PUSH ME OVER THE EDGE PERMANENTLY. I now live with permanent, lifelong pain because a "health practitioner" decided to forgo proper initial evaluation for a quick buck.

Jennifer is an amazing chiropractor and healer. Her approach to treating my shoulder has been very effective. The 15 minute sessions were better than when I had 30+ minute treatments elsewhere. She is very professional and personable. I would recommend the clinic and staff to anyone who is motivated to get better!
