Dr. Darrell J. Morin, B Sc, DC
Welcome to my bio! I graduated from U of Alberta with a B.Sc. in biochemistry. I loved biochemistry so much I almost pursued a career in it. After some thought I realized I enjoyed working with people much more than microscopes. I still find that background very helpful when counseling patients on nutrition. There is so much misinformation out there. A solid science background helps one separate the wheat from the chaff quickly when providing nutrition advice. I then went to chiropractic school in Portland Oregon. I really enjoyed my four years there; great school and lots of hiking, swimming and mountain biking.
I have been in practice here at South Edmonton Chiropractic for 28 years and love it. There is a tremendous void in common sense in our society as it relates to issues in nutrition, physical activity and life style. It's great to be able to fill that gap in knowledge with information that is not influenced by drug companies or selling a product. We do carry a few common supplements but mostly I refer to other practitioners or stores where services or products can be accessed if required.
In my off time I like to train for triathlons and have completed several small triathlons and three Iron Man events; two in Canada and once at the World Championships in Kona Hawaii. Priorities have shifted to my wife Sarah and our three boys in recent years. My more senior patients and long time wellness clients are quick to point out that children don't stay young for long so cherish every moment. I feel blessed to have such wonderful people who come to our office and for all the advice I often receive in return!
Hope you enjoy the rest of the website. If we seem like a good fit for your health care needs then I'll see you soon; if not, feel free to ask a question on-line or sign up for the health tips that are updated every month. The part of our website that I love the most is the Wellness Blog. I really love researching health topics and sharing them with people. I find that I don't always have time to tell each patient all that they may benefit from (plus it's a tad boring repeating the same thing). The wellness section changes every week or two and is usually focused on nutrition. They are great and may enhance or even save your life or the life of someone you love, so pass it on.
Warm Regards, Dr. Darrell

“The short version- Dr. Morin is excellent! He is compassionate, knowledgeable, friendly and kind and most importantly, he is GREAT at what he does!! The front desk staff are friendly, take charge individuals who run a tight ship and keep things organized and running smoothly. The detailed version- This has been my first experience with seeing a chiropractor. For years I wagged my finger at the idea and flat out refused as my husband tried to reason with me to give it a try. I’ve even chatted with 3 or 4 chiropractors and still wasn’t sold. I ignored my ongoing back and shoulder pain for over a decade before finally, my back just said “enough” one day last month and for a week, I hobbled around expecting it to get better. FINALLY I went to the chiropractor and I am so happy I came to see Dr. Morin. Dr. Morin is the chiropractor who finally won me over and since beginning treatment under him, the change has been dramatic in my life. I love to cook, I used to have to pop an Advil or two if I planned to spend time on a long cooking project that day to combat back and shoulder pain and I would still have to take frequent breaks in between to rest my back. This past weekend, I made a full turkey dinner and didn’t realize until I was washing dishes later that my back didn’t hurt once through it all. On top of that, on a more vain note, the physical change in my posture and side profile is staggering quite honestly. What really did it for me was how thorough dr Morin is in looking into your individual treatment. He requests x-rays for all new patients and conducts other additional tests upon intake. After the tests are complete, he takes time to explain things thoroughly and answer your questions. Dr. Morin then creates a treatment plan with you. My simple advice to you is that you stick to the plan!! He knows what he’s talking about. My lovely husband skipped out on his plan originally (has now recommitted) and the difference in results compared to the two of us after 5 weeks really speaks for itself. Dr. Morin treats his patients with compassionate care. It’s not difficult to see how greatly he believes in what he does. He cares for his patients and their well-being which is evidenced in his wonderful “bedside manor” and the effort he makes to connect personally even just for the two minutes it takes to be adjusted. I’m thrilled with my results so far and I’m committed to continuing my treatment. I highly recommend!”Read moreShow less

“Summerside chiropractic with Dr. Morin is the best! I have been going to him for over 5 years. They are very friendly and care about everyone that walks in. They are very accommodating with my schedule and is able to fit me in whenever I am available. The wait time is very minimal if none. He has been helped me with my back and hips. I highly recommend him to everyone who needs a chiropractor!”Read moreShow less

“I was initially skeptical of Chiropractic care after hearing many horror stories from others of adjustments gone wrong. Then I found myself suffering a terrible pain in my upper back and right shoulder that left me nearly incapacitated. After missing several days of work, and not knowing what course of action to take next, I relented and gave Chiropractic care a chance. Fortunately for me, I found myself in Dr. Morin's office. He understood my apprehension and assured me that he would be extremely careful, especially after I told him of an old neck injury: a fracture to my second vertebrae. After reviewing the X-Ray charts he requested of my fractured C2, he planned a course of treatment to get me back on track. For my immediate treatment, I was in to see him three times a week. This seems excessive, but my condition was quite severe. After I had regained full range of motion, the required visits became less frequent, with adjustments once every two weeks. Now I see him for an adjustment once every three weeks, or any time something gets "stuck". I cannot say enough about Dr. Morin and his staff. They are extremely friendly and helpful, and Dr. Morin is very knowledgeable and attentive. I highly recommend him to anyone who has had a lingering ache or pain that for some reason just won't go away. I think you will be surprised by how effective chiropractic treatment can be.”Read moreShow less
