About Brian

Dr. Pauls offers therapy to a wide range of adults, including those with or without legal involvement. He works with individuals involved in intimate partner violence, those with a history of sexual offenses, as well as those with violent and non-violent offenses. In addition, Dr. Pauls has significant expertise in substance use treatment, helping individuals achieve their goals of harm reduction or abstinence. He provides compassionate intervention to individuals with atypical sexual preferences who have not been involved in the legal system and who are seeking help. Following his graduation with a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 2005, Dr. Pauls went on to receive licensure as a Forensic and Clinical Psychologist in Ontario in 2007. In 2022, he received licensure as a Psychologist with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board. For the last 20 years, Dr. Pauls has worked primarily with adults who have been in conflict with the law. Most notably, he has worked for Correctional Service of Canada, Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He has been primarily involved in the psycho-diagnostic evaluation, risk assessment, and treatment of adults with major mental illness and addictions, who have been deemed Not Criminally Responsible for their offenses.
