About Arielle

Dr. Arielle Petropolis, or ‘Dr. P’, is a licensed chiropractor and the founder of Petropolis Chiropractic & Therapeutic Care. Before deciding to open her own practice in November of 2023, she previously worked in HRM for five years in multidisciplinary clinic settings, with a deep appreciation for the collaborative healthcare model. Arielle grew up in a healthcare-oriented family and with early exposure to a variety of sports. Personally, her appreciation for the importance of proper movement and function grew through a back injury she sustained while training for and competing at two Canada Winter Games as a member of the Nova Scotia squash team. After this experience, she knew that a proactive approach involving manual therapy was the route she wanted to pursue for her career so that she could help others achieve optimal health and live full lives. During her undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University, Arielle had opportunities to work in various multidisciplinary clinic environments, where she learned more about manual therapy. She furthered her education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Ontario, Canada, where she received her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree in 2019. Throughout her studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Arielle completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University and received training in Mental Health First Aid. Dr. Petropolis believes that education and easing barriers to movement is important for patient-centered care. She has a special interest in neck and back pain, nerve-related pain, headaches, and jaw (TMJ) issues. Over her early career, Dr. Petropolis developed additional clinical passion for addressing protective injury mechanisms in the body and tissue adaptation throughout recovery, and how these protective mechanisms influence the body’s muscles, nerves, joints, and movement patterns on a deeper brain-body level. This includes finding and treating compensatory patterns related to injuries (e.g. scars, fractures, strains, and more) and educating people on how we can better educate and support patients through acute and chronic injury and stages of recovery. Chiropractic treatments at Petropolis Chiropractic & Therapeutic Care can include manipulation (i.e. adjustments) and mobilization of the spine and extremity joints, neurofunctional acupuncture, soft tissue therapy, education, and rehabilitation exercises. Dr. Petropolis now offers microcurrent point stimulation (MPS) treatment with the Dolphin Neurostim with a variety of applications for scar tissue release, acute or chronic pain neuromodulation, and addressing other systems of the body. She has been excited to observe the therapeutic benefits from this modality for soft tissue adhesions from new/old scars on a superficial and internal level and achieve improved movement and reduced pain elsewhere from scar release. MPS Therapy can also be used for transcutanous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) for supporting those with complex pain, post-concussion syndrome, executive dysfunction, and other systems of the body affected by conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, stress/burnout, dysautonomia, POTS, long COVID, and many other complaints related to neuro-inflammatory conditions. She looks forward to welcoming you to her office and continuing to help people achieve their goals related to health, recovery, performance, and feeling their very best!
