About cc

cc or Cecilia Chau (she/they) is an Art Psychotherapist (RCAT) and Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with 9 years of experience in mental health and psychotherapy. cc also provides clinical supervision and facilitates talks, group workshops, and guest lectures at institutions across Turtle Island, so-called "Canada." cc is known for their client-centred, trauma-informed, eclectic approach to healing, informed by various Western and Eastern methods to support well-being. cc is a settler diaspora originally from the colonized city of Hong Kong (the city has since returned to the PRC). cc is forever grateful for Turtle Island and her original caretakers for this beautiful land and is dedicated to recognizing and reconciling with Mother Earth and all her beings. cc is currently situated in Treaty 13 and Williams Treaty land near Tkaronto. They have been continuously learning from the land and from people and beings who roam this land since time immemorial. cc strives to continue to build a respectful and reciprocal relationship with Turtle Island. All my relations. Philosophy In their practice, cc meets the needs of each client where they are on their healing journey, even when words cannot fully describe their feelings. They encourage clients to express their thoughts and emotions through art and handwork. cc believes everyone can heal their wounds and see themselves as a witness and companion that folks may lean on when necessary. cc has been honoured to walk with many different folks on their healing journeys. In their practice, their primary focus is guided by the idea that everyone deserves to be liberated and be their authentic selves. Therapeutic Approach They incorporate mindfulness practices, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), compassionate inquiry, and expressive arts therapy using a multiple perspective and culturally aware lens. cc;s approach is grounded in Mi'kmaq Elder Albert Marshall's Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing), the late Thay, Thich Nhat Hanh's embodiment of mindful being, and Dr. Gabor Maté's compassionate inquiry. cc specializes in supporting people who have experienced marginalization and have been impacted by the harms of colonization. They are empathic to those who need to navigate the web of systemic hurdles. cc works closely with the clients to determine their desired goals of healing and will work with the clients together to create plans to reach those outcomes. Along the way, they will work with clients to re-evaluate such goals and together make any adjustments as needed. Focus Areas Life transitions can be challenging for folks who are marginalized in multiple intersectional ways, and cc is well-informed in the maze of race, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, disability, body-affirming, and intergenerational trauma as a therapist with such lived experiences.
