About Caelum

In 2010 Caelum graduated NAIT’s Personal Fitness Training diploma program. Seeking deeper understanding in the musculoskeletal system she pursued the Massage Therapy diploma program out of OVCMT, graduating as valedictorian in 2014. In 2016, she completed her certification in Neurokinetic Therapy. She then opened her own clinic, Full Spectrum Massage Therapy. Her discovery of Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) took her education to Poland. Since then, she has acted as an assistant twice in Portugal for the P-DTR course, with plans to return this summer. Caelum is currently in her third year of a bachelors of health science program with TRU. “PDTR has taught me about receptors, muscles, joints, organs, the cranium, emotions, primitive reflexes, cranial nerves, meridians, food intolerances, and many more topics which pulls in the most well-rounded understanding of how one thing effects the other physically or psychologically. I test muscles feeling for the neurological response, this will reveal a protective inhibition/facilitation pattern, from this I work backwards to uncover the top priority of what needs to get treated and how your body uses its compensators.” P-DTR Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) is a technique that falls under the scope of practice of massage therapy. P-DTR uses the compensation theory to look at the body’s receptors signaling. In an initial appointment there is a thorough assessment, this helps the therapist to understand the mechanisms behind the symptoms, and therefore determine what the most effective treatment would be. The treatment alters the threshold of receptor sensitivity back to its original baseline state. P-DTR uses repetitive muscle testing with the application of various stimuli (manually, by the therapist) to the patient’s skin, around joints, ligaments, the face, head, etc. Stimuli can include (but is not limited to): light touch, pressure, local stretch, joint compression, ligament stress, vibration (tuning forks), and pinprick (toothpick).
