About Brenda
Welcome! I am happy you found me! I’m Brenda (she/her). I am a practicum student working to complete my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Are things feeling pretty heavy right now and you need a soft place to land? I’ve been there! How comforting it is having the right people walk beside you on your journey towards healing and thriving! I would be honoured if you chose me as your travel companion.
I believe in people. I listen intently and with compassion. My gentle and fun approach will draw out your beautiful strengths and your unique insights; these will guide our sessions. Together, we will explore what is getting in the way of you being your best self. Then, we will build a tailored plan. Let’s get you ‘home’.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and with varying life challenges. I feel connected to work that supports life transitions, relationship and family healing work, chronic health conditions, and the moments when you feel ‘stuck’ or overwhelmed.
I also have a passion for working with children ages 10+, youth, and the families that support them. I completed my undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care (BCYC) at the University of Victoria. My love of learning and passion for working across complex developmental stages and kids’ ‘hard stuff’, translated into graduating with distinction and on the Dean’s list. I have experience working across complex anxiety presentations, stress, peer- and school-based challenges, and suicidality. I am loudly neuro- and identity-affirming.
I work from a whole-person experiencing and seeing stance. I believe that you have your own answers and knowing; they just may be hard to reach right now. My approach is integrative and adapted to you. I am drawn towards modalities that are creative, emotion and attachment focused, and ones that consider the deep roots of who we are and how we got here. My value is in listening deeply and being with you. I will hold your story with care. But then what? Together, we will develop strategies, learnings, and tools that you can draw from. Self-discovery and self-reliance are beautifully empowering parts of you that are ready to be unearthed and reignited!
