In 2017, he was recognized by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association for his work in developing a role for ring-side physiotherapists treating combat sports injuries in professional MMA, and boxing. He is a recreational lifter and also teaches Brazilian Jiujitsu. He studied at the University of Saskatchewan and likes to hunt and fish.
