They struggle to express their needs and emotions and have difficulty setting boundaries. They don’t feel like they can be themselves due to fear of being misunderstood, judged, or rejected if they are. Often, my clients describe traumatic pasts or difficult life events that remain unresolved. They’re hypervigilant for things that could go wrong or numb and dissociated. Negative beliefs such as “I’m not lovable,” “My feelings aren’t important,” or “I’m a failure” are deeply ingrained, and serve as stumbling blocks on their path to happiness and more fulfilling relationships. Internalized messages from society or family on how to live, what to like, and how to behave often further undermine their self-esteem, hold them back, and make them feel like they don’t belong. They may feel confused about their direction in life, who they are, and where they stand with others. Parents of my teen clients are often worried about their child. They want more for them, but don’t know what to do. ###My Approach: I work together with each client as a team. The therapeutic process is structured to match your pace and comfort level. At its core, my practice is attachment- and trauma-informed. I create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can openly share your life story. I also take an integrative approach to therapy, relying on different ways of working to match what you need when you need it. For example, I draw upon a psychodynamic approach when exploring early life experiences and when unresolved conflicts and issues related to identity are the root cause of a client’s distress. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and overcome negative self-talk and fears, and set goals that move them forward in life. In addition, to achieve more holistic healing, I will often integrate mindfulness and body-oriented techniques to help you move through stuck, unpleasant emotions and feel more connected with your body and grounded within yourself. By the end of therapy, my clients describe feeling more secure with who they are and what they want. They no longer feel anxious, depressed, or held back by the thoughts and fears they once had. They feel more at ease and confident to express themselves and more equipped to cope with difficult emotions when they arise. ###About Me: I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor licensed with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Canadian Certified Counsellor licensed with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I obtained my Master of Counselling degree from City University in Canada. I speak Russian fluently and offer sessions in both English and Russian. I am experienced and passionate about helping people work through painful emotions, debilitating beliefs, and unresolved trauma.
