About Amanda

M.P.T. (Master of Physical Therapy), B.Sc. Kin. (Bachelor of Kinesiology), Acupuncture Canada Dry Needling Program Amanda (she/her) obtained her Master of Science in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University and her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. Her compassionate one-to-one treatment approach uses a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, biomechanical analysis and correction, and education. Her aim is to treat the cause of your injuries and not just the symptoms for effective injury management and prevention. As a former Kinesiologist, she has acquired expertise in therapeutic exercise rehabilitation. Amanda is certified in trigger point dry needling through Acupuncture Canada. She is also certified in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization techniques and manual soft tissue release. To ensure her treatment approach is always informed by the latest research and best practices, Amanda regularly pursues continuing education courses taught by leading experts, with topics including shoulder pain, lower body dysfunctions, and lumbo-pelvic injuries. She is currently participating in courses specific to neurological and musculoskeletal dysfunctions of the upper and lower body through the Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal physiotherapy program. Amanda’s clinical interests include (but are not limited to) tendinopathy injuries (tennis/golfers elbow, rotator cuff, jumper's knee, achilles tendonitis), post-surgical rehabilitation, disc-related issues, osteoarthritis, bone fractures, chronic injuries, and chronic pain. She has extensive experience working with patients that have sustained injuries at work, post-motor vehicle accidents, and in sport. From her work at Peace Arch Hospital, she has developed interests in rehabilitation for stroke, cardiovascular disorders, neurological disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, and the acute care of older adults/the elderly. She formerly worked in the in-patient unit of the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program of BC at Vancouver General Hospital. With her well-rounded practice in both the clinical and hospital setting, Amanda is very experienced with helping patients recover from their injuries, improve their quality of life, and optimize their long-term functioning. She is fluent in English and conversational Cantonese. Outside of work, Amanda expresses her artistic side through film and theatre acting, improv comedy, and music. She recently performed in her first musical comedy (specifically a Pantomime) with the White Rock Players Club and can be seen volunteering and performing in local theatres. She also enjoys staying active in the gym and can be found hiking the trails of Metro Vancouver with her husband in the summer. Amanda is accepting all patients and looks forward to working with you to achieve your goals and return to your activities with confidence!
