Amanda Cook (she/her) holds a Master of Social Work degree with 10 years of practice experience, specializing in gender-based violence and mental health & addictions. Known for her calm and non-judgmental demeanor, she is dedicated to fostering a safe and healing space for all. Philosophy Amanda believes in person-centred, strength-based approaches to therapy. Therapeutic Approach Grounded within a trauma-informed practice, Amanda tailors her approach to meet your unique needs and goals. Incorporating Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), relational therapy and motivational interviewing with harm-reduction, mindfulness-based practices. Using CBT, and DBT tools and techniques to support the cognitive change process, while incorporating nurturing resourcing to help shift and heal the nervous system. Combining these practices to allow you to move towards healing, growth, and agency. Focus Area Amanda specializes in supporting individuals experiencing addiction, anxiety, stress, trauma, and the impacts of gender-based violence. Whether you're feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, struggling with overwhelming emotions, navigating recovery, or working through the effects of past experiences, Amanda offers a compassionate and non-judgmental space for healing. She also supports clients living with ADHD, depression, chronic illness, disabilities, PTSD, and concerns related to gender and sexuality. Through a trauma-informed and strength-based approach, Amanda helps clients reconnect with their resilience, develop practical coping strategies, and move toward lasting growth and meaningful change.
