Alvaro is a Registered Massage Therapist and graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy’s 3000-hour program. He also holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia, where he developed a strong foundation in human movement, exercise science, and injury rehabilitation. This background shaped his appreciation for individualized care and its impact on long-term recovery.
He began his career as a Kinesiologist, working primarily with ICBC and WorkSafeBC patients, before transitioning into case management, where he supported clients through complex recovery and return-to-work processes. These experiences provided valuable insight into both the clinical and insurance sides of rehabilitation. Wanting to return to hands-on, patient-centered care, he pursued Registered Massage Therapy.
During his training, Alvaro worked with diverse populations, including varsity athletes at UBC and Douglas College, individuals living with MS, geriatric patients, and families at Canuck Place and the David Lede House. He is known for his warm, patient-centered approach and takes the time to understand each client’s goals, concerns, and daily challenges.
His treatments incorporate techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point release, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, and PNF stretching to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support long-term functional health. He works with a wide range of patients, from those managing stress to individuals recovering from injury or living with persistent discomfort.
Outside of the clinic, Alvaro enjoys staying active through badminton, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. He is proficient in both English and Spanish.
