About Alex

I am so glad you are here. Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure about how to move forward? Are you someone who struggles with relationships, boundary setting, anxiety, or depression? You may find yourself dealing with constant worry, low mood, difficulty setting boundaries, feeling disconnected in relationships, or struggling to balance the many demands of daily life. If this sounds familiar, therapy can offer a space to slow down and make sense of what you’re experiencing. My goal is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you feel safe exploring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences as you work toward meaningful change. I provide therapy for teens (12+), adults, and families who may be navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and burnout. In my work, I focus strongly on building trust and creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship. My approach is strength-based and client-centred, meaning I work collaboratively with clients to build on their existing strengths, resilience, and personal insight while supporting them in developing new tools and perspectives that foster growth and wellbeing. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, or major life transitions, I work alongside clients to help them better understand their experiences and develop tools that support meaningful and lasting change. More specifically, I support dancers and their families in navigating the unique mental health challenges that can arise within the dance world. As someone who competitively danced for fifteen (15) years, I understand firsthand some of the unique pressures dancers face, including perfectionism, performance anxiety, stress, self-criticism, comparison, burnout, injuries, and the need to balance multiple responsibilities. My background in dance has given me a strong appreciation for the emotional and mental demands that accompany competitive environments and high expectations. I provide a supportive space for dancers to build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and prioritize their well-being, while helping parents better understand and support their child's emotional and mental health journey. I draw from several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Structural and Emotionally Focused Family (EFFT) Therapy. These approaches allow us to explore how thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences shape our current patterns. Together, we work to identify strengths, challenge unhelpful patterns, and develop healthier ways of coping and communicating. I have a background in psychology, sociology, and social service work, which informs my holistic understanding of how personal experiences, relationships, and broader social contexts can influence mental health and wellbeing. This perspective allows me to consider not only what is happening internally for clients, but also the external systems and environments that shape their experiences. I approach my work with cultural humility, recognizing that each person’s identity, culture, and lived experiences are unique and deserving of respect and openness. I strive to meet clients with curiosity rather than judgment, creating a space where individuals feel heard, understood, and valued for who they are. Through my work in social services, I have supported individuals navigating crisis situations, domestic violence, homelessness, and addictions. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain grounded, compassionate, and responsive when working with people facing complex challenges.
