About Alana
Alana graduated from Pacific Rim College as the Class Valedictorian of the Diploma of Acupuncture program. She is also a graduate from the University of Alberta where she holds a Bachelor of Science degree. While at university, she was a member and team captain of the varsity swim team. During her time as a high-level athlete, she found acupuncture and relied on it to keep her body in top form while representing Canada on a national and international stage.
Alana has a keen interest in treating pain, dysfunction, and injury. Her approach to treatment is a blend of traditional Chinese medicine and orthopedic sports acupuncture. She employs a variety of techniques in her treatments, including: electro-acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, and moxibustion.
Alana continues to evolve her practice; she has been a teaching assistant at the college where she instructed students in advanced orthopedic needling techniques and assessments. She has completed certifications for integrative myofascial acupuncture and biomechanical analysis.
When she’s not in the clinic, she’s off hiking in the woods with her partner and her rescue dog, Chips.
