About Abrar
Welcome! Guided by Carl Rogers’s quote, “…How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their own personal growth?”, I believe every individual carries a story that shapes their present moment, and our minds and bodies can carry the effects of these narratives. Together, we can explore these experiences and discover what they reveal to you.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology from York University and am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. These studies have deepened my understanding of personal difficulties and inspired me to offer a compassionate hand to those seeking support. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, creating a space where you feel comfortable, supported, understood, and respected is central to my work, including providing a collaborative environment where you can express yourself, work toward your goals, and grow at your own pace. I support individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, stress, interpersonal relationships, grief, depression, and life transitions. I also use an integrative, culturally responsive approach that draws from several modalities, including narrative therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques.
My experiences volunteering with crisis helplines, specifically with 9-8-8 and Kids Help Phone, has strengthened my ability to be attentive, recognize underlying meanings, respond with empathy, and offer guidance during challenging times. Additionally, I am able to communicate in Arabic.
If this resonates with you, feel free to book a consultation with me. I am here to be alongside you throughout your therapeutic journey!
Phone Calls are 15-20 minutes in length and are intended to be an opportunity for client and therapist to better decide if they are a good fit in working together.
