About Wendy

Wendy Maidment is a registered social worker who obtained a Bachelor of Social Work in 2015 from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) and a Master of Social Work in 2024 from MUN, where she received a Fellowship of the School of Graduate Studies for outstanding academic achievement and performance of special merit. During her BSW, Wendy completed clinical placements with Janeway Outpatient Psychiatry and the Bridges Program at Eastern Health. During her MSW, Wendy completed a clinical placement with Ruah Counselling Centre, a non-profit community counselling agency. Wendy began her social work career as a social worker with the Department of Children, Seniors, and Social Development (CSSD), where she spent several years working with children, youth, and their families, providing services and support through the Protective Intervention, In Care, Adoptions, and Youth Services programs. Wendy then worked with the Association for New Canadians (ANC) as a Social Work Coordinator and Manager of Settlement Services, where she provided individual and group support to newcomers and completed training in immigrant and refugee mental health. Wendy has completed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training for traumatic processing, Levels 1 and 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Gottman Treating Affairs and Trauma in Relationships and Grief Counselling and Treatment training. As a therapist, Wendy’s main priority is building strong therapeutic relationships with clients and selecting therapy options based on their needs. Wendy has a special interest in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, attachment, relationships, and grief and loss. Wendy is currently accepting referrals for individual and couples counselling.
