About Stephan

I am a counselor with over 30 years of experience. I was trained in clinical pastorate through the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. My training and experience were established in a variety of settings. I was involved as a counselor in Pastoral and Congregational settings, in the military and in hospital environments. I worked with clients/members/patients, on challenges related to stress, anxiety, depression, anger, self-esteem, grief and recovering from past abuse. I am well experienced in working with couples who struggle with unresolved issues and conflict in their relationship. I use the Integrative approach to intervention which includes ACT, EFT, CBT, DBT, Attachment and Psychodynamic therapy approaches as needed. I also focus on Family system therapy, do conflict management interventions and in 2018 finished the Intensive Training program in Sex Therapy at the University of Guelph. I do respect your values. My post graduate training in psychology, philosophy and theology, enables me to practice therapy from a variety of world view and value perspectives. Are you a non-believer/ another faith background? My philosophical background and Integrative approach enables me to respect your values, which I will use to help you resolve issues. Are your values based in Christian faith? I am well experienced in providing therapy based on those values.
