About Maxine
Associate Therapist:
Maxine is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is passionate about supporting individuals and families through the emotional, relational, and identity shifts that can accompany fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Maxine practiced as a Registered Midwife for 17 years, supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the transitions into parenthood. While she no longer practices midwifery, her extensive experience within perinatal care continues to inform the compassionate, relational, and trauma-informed approach she brings to her work as a Registered Social Worker today.
Maxine brings both professional and lived experience into her work, drawing from her own journey through fertility, motherhood, and parenting. She recognizes the many complexities that can arise throughout the perinatal period and values creating a space where clients feel seen, supported, and understood.
As a therapist, Maxine works from a compassionate, attachment-based, and trauma-informed lens, believing that clients are the experts of their own experiences. She supports clients in reconnecting with their strengths, building self-compassion, and moving toward healing in meaningful and sustainable ways.
Maxine has completed additional training in perinatal mental health, including grief and loss, birth trauma, and mindfulness-based approaches. She appreciates the vulnerability involved in reaching out for support and feels honoured to become part of people’s circle of support during tender and transformative seasons of life.
Known for her warmth, authenticity, and approachable nature, Maxine brings laughter and a welcoming presence into the therapeutic space. With her grounded approach and big smile, she thoughtfully incorporates humour when appropriate, while continuing to hold compassionate and supportive space through vulnerable moments.
Maxine believes we are not meant to do this alone. She deeply values the power of connection and the importance of feeling supported through the joys, challenges, and transitions of life and parenthood.
Outside of her work, Maxine enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, exploring trails, reading when she can, and attempting to drink a hot coffee alongside her goldendoodle, George
