About Manvir

As a young South Asian daughter of immigrants going through university in Toronto, I didn’t know what direction I wanted to take in my career. There was family pressure to “succeed,” but I wasn’t sure what that truly meant. I found myself considering paths in healthcare, education, and academia, while also wanting to carve out a path that felt like my own. I made decisions based on what felt right in the moment. In my final year of university, I pursued research opportunities, which led me to complete a Master’s in Neuroscience and Cognitive Processing. Along the way, I realized that research was not my long-term path. I chose to pursue Counselling Psychology to work more directly in the helping profession. Recognizing my strengths—creating space for difficult emotions, listening without judgment, and maintaining curiosity toward others’ lived experiences—ultimately guided me toward a career as a psychotherapist. With over 14 years of experience in Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) across Ontario and Alberta, I support individuals, couples, and adolescents as they navigate the complexities of both personal and professional life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply respectful of each person’s unique journey. I specialize in helping clients process difficult experiences using evidence-based modalities, including: * Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) * Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) * Narrative Therapy * Mindfulness-based strategies I have a particular interest in supporting those navigating the intersections of cultural identity, family dynamics, and diaspora experiences. Whether you are facing career transitions, relationship challenges, fertility and postpartum experiences, or the complexities of parenting, I am here to support you in building emotional resilience and healthier patterns. I provide therapy fluently in Punjabi and can also converse in Hindi and Urdu.
