*“Sometimes, the most important thing we can do for ourselves is simply give ourselves permission to be heard.”
You don’t have to have the right words. You just have to come as you are.*
There are times when life can feel overwhelming even when, from the outside, everything seems fine. You may be functioning, working, caring for others, and doing everything you are “supposed” to do, while privately feeling anxious, exhausted, disconnected, stuck, or unsure of what to do next. You may be overthinking everything, struggling with self-worth, navigating a difficult relationship, recovering from hurt, or simply wishing someone would listen without judging or trying to “fix” you.
This is where therapy can begin.
I am Manasi Chavan, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have over 7 years of experience in the mental health field, working across psychotherapy and counselling, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), addiction and mental health services, child and youth mental health, case management, special education, and residential mental health support.
My experience has allowed me to work with children, adolescents, adults, workplace employees, and neurodiverse individuals, including individuals living with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and intellectual disabilities.
My clinical experience includes supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, low self-esteem and confidence concerns, grief, relationship difficulties, OCD-related concerns, body image concerns, eating-related concerns, narcissistic abuse recovery, substance use and behavioral addictions, as well as other emotional and behavioral challenges. I also have experience providing crisis intervention, psychosocial and risk assessment, treatment planning, case management, and trauma-informed support.
*I believe that behind every behavior, emotion, or struggle, there is a story.
Sometimes anxiety is telling us that something feels unsafe. Sometimes anger is protecting something that has been hurt. Sometimes perfectionism is an attempt to feel worthy or in control. And sometimes we simply become so used to surviving that we forget what it feels like to truly live.*
My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. I do not believe therapy should be a place where you are told who you should be. Instead, I see therapy as a space where we can slow down, become curious about your experiences, understand patterns that may no longer be serving you, and discover what you genuinely need.
I draw from integrated as well as evidence-informed approaches including Experiential Counselling, Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness-Based approaches, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and trauma-informed interventions. I am also continuing my training in EMDR.
Rather than using a “one-size-fits-all” approach, I tailor therapy to your experiences, your goals, your pace, and what feels meaningful to you. Sometimes therapy may involve developing practical coping strategies. Other times, it may mean exploring earlier experiences, relationships, attachment patterns, emotional responses, or beliefs about yourself that have developed over time.
My work in addiction and mental health has given me experience supporting individuals navigating substance use, gambling concerns, behavioral addictions, relapse prevention, harm reduction, motivation for change, and trauma.
My goal is to offer you a space where you can speak honestly, feel heard, and be met with compassion and empathy.
I hold a Master of Arts in Psychology from Maharaja Sayajirao University, and a Graduate Certificate in Addiction and Mental Health from Durham College, Ontario, where I was recognized on the Dean’s List for academic excellence. I have also completed Intensive professional training in multiple psychotherapy modalities and continue to engage in clinical supervision and professional development.
*As an immigrant myself, I understand the challenges of building a life in a new country the uncertainty, cultural adjustments, and feeling of finding your place in unfamiliar surroundings.
My multicultural and multilingual background is an important part of how I practice. I understand that our emotional experiences do not exist in isolation they are influenced by our families, relationships, culture, values, expectations, life experiences, and communities. I strive to create a culturally respectful space where you do not have to leave parts of yourself at the door.*
Let’s start where you are.
You do not need to know exactly what to say in your first session.
You can simply tell me, “I don't know what's wrong, but I don't feel like myself anymore.”
We can start there.
I offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation for new clients. This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk about what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether my approach feels like the right fit for you.
I would be honored to walk alongside you!
