#####I am a compassionate and experienced grief therapist, dedicated to helping clients navigate and make sense of the complexities of loss.
With experience as a grief specialist spanning over a decade, I have supported clients through a wide range of losses—including the death of a loved one, terminal illness, suicide loss, loss of a child or baby (including miscarriage and stillbirth), infertility, pet loss, relationship breakdowns, divorce or separation, job loss, loss of identity, loss of purpose, and more.
#####I work with individuals and couples who are grieving the loss of a loved one or facing other profound losses, offering support and guidance through their grief journey.
Whether grieving the death of a loved one, a stigmatized loss (such as suicide or miscarriage/stillbirth), or a less recognized loss (like the loss of a pet, relationship, or job), I’m committed to helping my clients integrate their losses into their lives, facilitating a path forward to lead rich and meaningful lives.
#####My approach recognizes the importance of challenging societal norms and fostering a more inclusive and compassionate understanding of grief.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space for clients to explore their experiences of loss and grief. Using a client-centered, companioning approach, I help clients better understand their grief, discover meaningful ways to mourn, and support their healing—while also challenging the societal stigmas, beliefs, and expectations that often shape how grief is experienced.
In addition to the individual work I do with clients, I am a grief educator providing workshops & seminars on a variety of topics related to grief and loss. I am passionate about educating others to increase public awareness of grief and mourning and to help decrease societal misconceptions and stigma surrounding loss, death and grief.
#####My journey in grief counselling is rooted in my own personal experiences.
After the sudden loss of my mother at age 32 and experiencing the loss of two baby girls through miscarriage, I was compelled to find purpose in my pain. This led me to begin my journey toward becoming a grief counsellor and coach. These first-hand experiences have given me a unique perspective, along with a deep empathy and understanding that I bring into my work with clients as they navigate their own grief.
#####My specialized training and diverse background have deeply influenced and shaped my approach to grief counselling.
I am a graduate of the Death & Grief Studies Program at the Center for Loss & Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado, where I received training and mentorship from world-renowned grief expert Dr. Alan Wolfelt. This specialized training has informed my 12 years of experience, during which I have guided hundreds of clients through the complex process of healing from loss.
In addition to my private practice work at Onyx, I previously served as the Grief & Bereavement Navigator with the Hospice Society of Camrose & District, providing counselling to those affected by the grief of end-of-life or the death of a loved one.
