About Karen
The therapy space I offer gives you a moment to honour yourself, slow down, and show up just as you are. I know connecting to counselling can feel vulnerable and my goal is for you to feel validated, supported, and empowered in our work together. We will work at your pace on what feels safe and aligned for you while honouring your story, strengths, and intuition. My hope is that therapy is a space where you can show up authentically and not carry everything on your own. Together, we explore what healing looks like for you in a way that feels meaningful.
I am a queer, neurodivergent, second-generation South Asian woman living with gratitude on the stolen, occupied, and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem First Nation) peoples. In addition to my own lived experience, I have several years of experience working withs folks navigating systemic harm, domestic violence, relational wounds, substance use, poverty, intergenerational and complex trauma, neurodivergence, shame, and struggles around emotional regulation. These relationships taught me so much about resilience, resourcefulness, and the strength it takes to keep going in the face of systems that don't always offer meaningful care.
My work is rooted in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, multicultural, and sex-positive lens, with an emphasis on meeting people without judgment. My sessions are person-centred and influenced by IFS, Feminist, Narrative, and Somatic therapies. Whether you're working through the impacts of trauma, exploring your identity, or hoping to reconnect with yourself, my role is to walk alongside you as a grounding presence as you make choices that feel right with who you are. Though counselling may bring up themes that feel tender and uncomfortable, I am there to hold space with empathy, warmth, and humour to make it a little lighter and more digestible.
