About Karen

I am a Registered Social Worker holding a Master’s in Social Work from York University. Prior to coming to Social Work, I did Doctoral work in education and taught at York University and Seneca College. I specialize in working with individuals with mild to moderate depression and anxiety as well as folks who are exploring their gender and sexual identities. I offer services to parents and families who are supporting their queer and trans kin as well as couples, especially those practicing ethical non-monogomy. I use multi-modal therapies including psycho-dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and narrative therapy. My practice is fiercely queer friendly, gender and neurodiversity affirming, sex positive and anti-racist. Together, we will consider the ways early experiences and systemic barriers impact who we are in our personal and professional relationships and how they colour our interpretations of the world. Through this work, we can identify what is and isn’t working for you and then turn our attention to strategies for change.
