About Jake
Do you feel like you're constantly fighting your own thoughts and feelings, working hard to push away what you don't want, only to end up stuck in the exact same place? What if the goal wasn't to get rid of those thoughts and feelings, but to change your relationship with them?
I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), with a strong grounding in mindfulness and meditation. I work with individuals who struggle with substance abuse, trauma, spiritual abuse, anxiety, and depression, helping them build a different relationship with the parts of themselves they've been trying to outrun.
Mindfulness is at the centre of how I practice. Rather than treating difficult thoughts and feelings as problems to be solved or fixed, I help clients learn to notice them, make room for them, and keep moving toward a life that actually reflects what matters to them. My underlying belief is that people have an innate capacity to heal and grow. Therapy is about clearing the way for that capacity to do its work, not fighting against it.
If you are struggling with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, aimlessness, isolation, trauma, or family challenges, I would be glad to walk alongside you.
If this resonates, reach out to Alysha, our Intake Coordinator, for a free 20-minute consultation to see if I would be the right fit.
