About Jae

Meet Jae Steele, MACP, RP My main strength is offering affirming, compassionate care to people who have ADHD and may also be neurodivergent in other ways—such as autism (AuDHD), twice-exceptionality (2E), or complex trauma (CPTSD). No matter whether these needs were recognized in childhood, identified later through diagnosis, or understood through self-identification, you deserve a therapist who understands and uses an approach that’s validating, collaborative, experiential, flexible, and non-pathologizing—one that supports clear communication, meets sensory needs, and helps build embodied awareness. These things can genuinely make a difference. In session, I bring curiosity, a sense of possibility, warmth, and genuine relatability. I aim to discern when a moment calls for gentleness or a solid plan, and when it calls for a bit of a laugh. My work is trauma-informed, intersectional, and anti-oppressive. I deeply value identity and community, support diverse genders, sexualities, and relationships, and take a harm-reduction approach that respects multiple recovery pathways. I can help you show up in your life and relationships in a way that feels authentic to you, and make boundaries easier to navigate. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, as well as a graduate certificate in Infant and Early Child Mental Health, and a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery. I have been providing health care to people in one capacity or another for over 20 years. Areas of focus • ADHD or AuDHD (autism + attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder) • Addiction: harm reduction and recovery • Anxiety • Borderline personality disorder (BPD) • Burnout • Chronic fatigue, illness or pain • Complex relational trauma (CPTSD) • Emotional befriending and regulation • Family challenges: intergenerational trauma, estrangement, adult children of emotionally immature parents • Grief • LGBTQ+ identity • Life transitions: young adulthood, school, employment, moves, etc. • Parenting: perinatal mood issues, sole parenting, co-parenting, supporting a child (of any age) with their neurodivergence or mental health struggles • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) • Relationships: dating, partnership, separation and divorce Therapeutic modalities My person-centred, eclectic approach draws on: • Internal Family Systems (IFS) • Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) • Somatic Experiencing (SE) • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) • Nonviolent Communication (NVC) • Person-Centred Therapy (PCT)
