About Emma

Emma Thomson- Occupational Therapist Emma Thomson is an Occupational Therapist at Allied Therapy who completed both her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences at Dalhousie University. She supports children and adults with a range of goals related to regulation, independence, accessibility, and participation in everyday life. Emma’s practice is grounded in trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming care. She works collaboratively with clients and families to support emotional and nervous system regulation, executive functioning, sensory processing, daily living skills, and participation in meaningful routines at home and in the community. She has a particular interest in community accessibility and creating inclusive environments. Emma believes occupational therapy can help identify barriers, solve practical challenges, and develop systems that make everyday activities more accessible, efficient, and sustainable. She takes a holistic approach, looking at the individual, their environment, routines, and priorities before developing recommendations. Emma is passionate about mental health awareness and providing inclusive care for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. She values creating therapeutic spaces where clients feel safe, respected, and understood, and describes her communication style as direct and curious, asking thoughtful questions to understand the whole picture before working toward solutions. Her professional development includes training and conferences related to ADHD, mental health, suicide intervention, child and youth occupational therapy, and neurodevelopmental practice. Emma has also contributed to community education through parent sessions, presentations, daycare initiatives, and family resources. Outside of work, Emma enjoys exploring new places, trying new food, creative projects, and spending time outdoors with her puppy, Leo.
