About Valerie

Dr. Valerie Penton, MSc, ND is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor practicing in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a Masters degree in Medicine and Doctor of Naturopathy degree. With 15 years experience in the health sector, Dr. Penton uses an evidence based approach, helping her patients optimize their health by using natural therapies. She advocates for an individualized and collaborative approach to healthcare. She grew up in rural NL and is passionate about educating and empowering her patients in their health and well-being. She has a firm belief that naturopathic medicine works well alongside conventional medicine. She does not aim to replace those therapies or interfere with patient’s existing medications. Fertility/Prenatal care and hormonal health are Dr. Penton’s focus areas, along with thyroid conditions and mental health. She is also a certified Naturopathic Birth Doula, and has experience working with midwives, obstetricians, family physicians and nursing staff to assist women during and after birth. Outside of private practice, Dr. Penton loves spending time with her family near the ocean, and enjoys finding new trails to hike.
