Dr. Stephen Funk is a graduate of University of Western States, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2013.
Born and raised in Abbotsford, Dr. Funk has returned to his hometown to join Sumas Mountain Sport & Spine—the clinic he grew up going to as a teen.
Before attending chiropractic school in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Funk completed his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology at University of the Fraser Valley in 2008 with a focus on exercise physiology and biomechanics.
Dr. Funk’s treatment approach is diverse, incorporating Active Release Techniques, Kinesio Taping, athletic taping, and functional exercises, along with an emphasis on patient education. The latter gives patients the tools and knowledge to be active participants in their treatment and recovery to optimum health. He is currently the team chiropractor for the Abbotsford Pilots and has been working with them over the past four seasons.
Having been a youth athlete, Dr. Funk is passionate about treating athletes at any level of sport as well as seniors, kids and everyone in between, utilizing biomechanics and conditioning to assist in injury prevention and rehabilitation. For the past 11 years, he has been proud to serve his hometown and the surrounding communities.
