Dr. Matthew A. Bumstead | D.C | Chiropractor
I am a recent graduate of the Doctor of Chiropractic program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in North York, Ontario. Prior to attending CMCC, I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Kinesiology at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ontario. My background in competitive sport, participation in physically active hobbies, and personal experiences with injury and rehabilitation have strongly influenced my interest in health, movement, and conservative care. Having relied on rehabilitation and other healthcare services throughout my own athletic career, I have experienced firsthand the impact that knowledgeable and supportive healthcare professionals can have on a person's ability to overcome set backs, and continue to pursue the activities that are meaningful to them.
Approach to Care
My education in kinesiology and chiropractic has allowed me to combine my interest in human movement and performance with clinical training in the assessment and management of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. During my clinical education, I developed experience with diversified chiropractic techniques, joint mobilizations and manipulations, soft-tissue therapy techniques, exercise prescription, and acupuncture. I believe that care should be individualized to the person in front of me. Every patient brings their own history, goals, lifestyle, and expectations, and these factors will be used to help guide the development of an individuals care plan. My goal is to help patients better understand their condition, improve their ability to move and function, and work toward the activities and goals that are meaningful to them while feeling confident about the road that lies ahead.
Proud to Serve My Community
Having grown up in Whitby and spent much of my life in the Durham Region, the Oshawa and Whitby communities have always been familiar to me. Beginning my professional career in Oshawa is therefore particularly meaningful. I am excited to join McAllister Health and contribute to a community that has played an important role in shaping who I am. I look forward to building and strengthening relationships with patients, learning from experienced clinicians, and contributing to the health and well-being of the people in the community. As I begin my career, my goal is to continue developing my clinical skills while providing care that is evidence-informed, individualized, and grounded in strong patient relationships. Ultimately, I want my patients to feel comfortable, listened to, and confident that I am genuinely invested in helping them achieve their goals.
