About Diane
Diane Kelly is a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Psychotherapist with more than 23 years of experience in healthcare, mental health, leadership, and psychotherapy. Her career has included acute mental health nursing, community-based mental healthare, healthcare leadership, and psychotherapy, giving her a broad understanding of both emotional and physical health and the ways they intersect throughout life.
Diane provides psychotherapy to youth (14+), adults, and older adults experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, trauma and PTSD, depression, grief and loss, caregiver stress, chronic illness and pain, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem and body-image concerns, and significant life transitions. She has a particular interest in supporting healthcare professionals, first responders, caregivers, youth and young adults, and people who may appear to be coping well on the outside while carrying considerable stress internally.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and integrative. Diane draws from nervous-system and somatic regulation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), solution-focused and narrative approaches, and parts-informed work, tailoring therapy to the needs and experiences of each person rather than expecting the person to fit a particular model of therapy.
Grief and loss are also an important part of Diane's practice, including bereavement, anticipatory grief, relationship and identity loss, and the loss of beloved pets. Her nursing background brings an additional understanding of the emotional impact of chronic illness, pain, caregiving, menopause, and other significant changes in health and life.
Above all, Diane believes therapy should be a place where people feel genuinely heard, respected, and safe to be themselves. She works alongside clients to help them understand what they are experiencing, develop practical ways of navigating difficult moments, and move toward change that feels meaningful and manageable.
Insurance & Funding: As a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Psychotherapist, Diane's psychotherapy services are eligible for reimbursement under many extended health benefit plans. Clients are encouraged to confirm coverage with their insurer or benefits provider before their first appointment, as coverage varies by individual plan.
Diane is also an approved NIHB and WSIB provider, with direct billing available for eligible clients. Clients who pay privately for psychotherapy sessions with Diane may also be able to claim the fees paid for her Registered Nurse psychotherapy services as an eligible medical expense on their Canadian income tax return, subject to CRA requirements.
