About Claire

###Registered Provisional Psychologist #####Claire focuses only on women's issues. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” - Carl Rogers. #####I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with an extensive background in holistic care. For nearly two decades, I have walked alongside individuals navigating life transitions, emotional pain, and personal growth, offering a safe, nonjudgmental, and deeply respectful space for healing. My professional journey in counselling began two decades ago, helping university students address challenges in relationships, identity development, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and perfectionism. I have also helped individuals to explore meaning, self-discovery, inner wisdom, and life transitions through mindfulness-based and contemplative practices. I have experience supporting people of all ages in a school community that values each person’s emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. I am also especially drawn to supporting women who are navigating relationships, life-transitions, identity, spirituality, self-esteem concerns, worldview shifts, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation and grief and loss. #####I value the innate connection between mind, body, and spirit. I utilize Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic awareness, psychodynamic theory, and other approaches that are a fit for you and your needs in therapy. I can also incorporate a faith-based perspective into our session if requested and welcome clients from all faith backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations and ethnicities. #####My approach to therapy is accepting, warm, collaborative, and client-centred. I believe every person’s story is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Together, we will work to uncover your strengths, clarify your goals, and move toward greater resilience and well-being. I see therapy as a partnership - walking alongside you with empathy, curiosity, and respect as you navigate your own path. #####“We cannot change anything until we accept it” Carl Jung Beyond my professional training, I have over a decade of experience leading women’s groups and supporting mothers. This has taught me the profound power of community, compassion, and hope. These experiences continue to shape how I show up with clients: grounded, open-hearted, and attentive to both struggle and possibility. I am raising 4 children of my own and love connecting with teenagers and young adults as they navigate life, relationships and identity. I am currently welcoming clients aged 14 and older for both in-person sessions in Sherwood Park and virtual sessions across Alberta. I have had the privilege of witnessing therapy transform lives, and I strive to walk alongside clients as they uncover their own pathways toward healing and renewal. Whether you are seeking support for mental health concerns, struggling with a life transition, or longing for deeper self-understanding, I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey. ####Educational Background - Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology - Bachelor’s Degree in Religion - Spiritual Direction Certificate - ASIST Training ####Issues or Concerns - Abandonment - Abortion - Academic Concerns - Adjusting to Change - Adolescent Issues - Aging and Geriatric Issues - Agoraphobia - Alcohol and Drugs - Anger - Anxiety - Attachment Issues - Bereavement - Breakup - Cancer Diagnosis - Career Counselling - Caregiver Issues/Stress - Chronic Illness - Chronic Pain - Co-Dependency - Commitment Issues - Childbirth - Communication - Coping Skills - Connection - Control Issues - Dependency Concerns - Depression - Diagnosis - Dissociation - Divorce/Divorce Adjustment - Dysregulation - Emotional Intelligence - Emotional Overwhelm - Emotional Regulation - Emptiness - Family Problems - Family of Origin Issues - Fatigue - Fear - Fertility Issues - Financial Concerns - Forgiveness - Grief & Loss - Guilt - Health, Illness, Medical Issues - Medical Anxiety - Inadequacy - Identity - Infertility - Intimacy - Irritability - Isolation - Jealousy - LGBTQIA2S+ mental health - Life Purpose - Life Challenges - Life Transitions - Life Changes - Loss - Money & Financial Issues - Mood Swings - Neglect - OCD: Obsessions and Compulsions - Panic and Panic Attacks - Perfectionism - Personal Development - Pregnancy/Pre-Natal Concerns - Pregnancy Loss - Postpartum Depression - Prenatal and Postnatal Issues: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma - Prejudice and Discrimination - Reproductive Health - Relationship Issues - Rejection - Religious Issues or Concerns - Religious Trauma - Seasonal Depression - Self-Actualization - Self-Care - Self-Compassion - Self-Criticism - Self-Doubt - Self-Esteem - Self-Harm - Self-Love - Self-Worth - Sensitivity to Criticism - Separation - Shame - Sibling Challenges - Social Anxiety/Phobia - Spirituality - Stress - Transitions - Trust Issues - Values Clarification - Women’s Issues - Workplace Issues - Worry - Worthlessness - Young Adult Issues #####Approaches Used - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - Attachment Based - Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) - Eclectic Counselling - Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT) - Person-Centred Therapy - Psychodynamic - Solution Focussed Therapy - Somatic Informed - Spiritual Counselling - Strengths-Based Approaches ####Professional Associations/Regulatory Board - College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
