About Anan
My name is Anan Abuwarda, and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology from York University.
My interest in psychotherapy comes from both personal experience and my academic background. Having lived in different countries and being surrounded by diverse cultures, I developed a strong interest in understanding people and their experiences. These experiences also deepened my awareness of how culture and life circumstances can shape mental health and wellbeing. This helped strengthen my desire to support others and to be a meaningful presence during difficult times.
I hope to create a safe, respectful, and supportive space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences. My developing clinical interests include client-centred and strengths-based work, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and solution-focused approaches. I am especially interested in mental health, emotional wellbeing, and supporting clients in ways that are practical, compassionate, and responsive to their unique circumstances. I look forward to continuing to grow as a therapist while supporting clients in their healing journey.
