I have really bad ovary pain on the left side of my pelvis. And I was not seen properly at Kelowna general hospital one day but I was at Vernon general hospital on the same day. When my dad went through a heart attack, I use to drive to Vernon to go on walks at night and escape the feeling I once use to get. I saw a huge heart on their building a couple times at night when I use to travel there. And I thought to myself maybe I should try this hospital. I went in with pain that Kelowna general hospital dismissed me with. And I didn’t even wait in waiting room at all at the Vernon general hospital. They put in a room right away when I explained how painful it & they gave me a bed and put some iv fluid in me and did a scan right away. Like I said I had a bed something I don’t get at other hospitals. They asked if I was okay when I was in the bathroom because I was dizzy. They checked my whole body after putting the iv liquid in through this big machine. Then they brought me upstairs I rested in those beds for 10 hours all night with 4 ivs. My infection cleared and the doctors and nurses were so sweet. I feel like it was a sign to go to this hospital because I’ve been dealing with pelvis pain on the left side all my life. So here’s a big heart to this hospital and the staff ❤️ thank you! I also believe my family doctor was working upstairs at the time and told a doctor to come check up on me on one of the top floors of the building. I really recommend this hospital compared to other hospitals. Thank you so much!

I had to take an ambulance on a Saturday and I was close to death and I can say nothing but good about those people at the hospital not only were the doctors great the nurses were great. I think the hardest part is getting in once you’re in. I was truly treated like an KING and if I could remember people’s names, but I was sick I would thank them personally, but my name is Shane Schultz. I was in E 18 one room then I was in a private room on the sixth floor. we all complain about our our healthcare, but honest to God I have never been treated better from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU.

This hospital is always so dirty, it’s disgusting. I can understand having a doctor a nurse shortage, but cleaners? This is a hospital, it should be spotless. The one day I was in there the staff were literally stepping over garbage on the floor, there was a used adult diaper on the floor in the bathroom for hours! I get taken to my room and there was dried blood on the floor, I said something to the nurse and she got someone to “clean it”. The person mopped the floor, then used the same mop to mop the wall… then I find a used bandaid in the sheet of the bed. My skin crawls every time I have to go to the hospital because of how disgusting it is. Was there again recently and it wasn’t much better. Dirty shoe prints on the bed, the one table was covered in dirty finger prints, like, literal dirt covered finger prints. It really makes me worried about risk of infections.

This hospital is truly a gift to the community, with incredibly hardworking people. Yes, systems need to be reworked, more staff is needed, and we can hold them accountable, but we also need to need to give grace to all who work here - they are doing their best. I so thankful for the whole team- everyone I’ve met is incredible at what they do.

I had the best possible experience with the nursing staff, doctors and specialists during my 8 day stay at the Vernon Hospital. The care was attentive, professional, kind, compassionate and full of genuine joy and laughter. Thank you team, you changed my life for the better.

This was the best hospital I've ever been in!! My doctor who prefromed surgery on me was very friendly professional, explained everything to me in detail that was completely understandable and did his job with precision and very well, I'd highly rate Dr Parker as an awesome man and surgeon. The nurses were very happy polite and helpful in every way and all of them had extremely compassionate hearts and made me feel so very comfortable and were very concerned with me and the other patients comfort and health. The hospital was kept extremely clean !! All of the other staff were also very nice, happy and extremely helpful and concerned about everyone's health and happiness and comfort!! Overall it was the best hospital experience I've ever had in my entire life!! I'd recommend this hospital to anyone who is needing professional medical help and care!!🙏🙏👍👌🙂👋

Just spent 12 hours in Vernon Hospital for minor urgent surgery. I have to commend the nursing staff. While waiting for my surgery in pre-op I witnessed such a high level of care, patience and compassion that is so rare these days. My post-op nurses, although visibly very tired, took such good care of me. I hope they get a chance to read this, as I doubt they receive the appreciation they deserve. While Canada's population continues to grow- we all have to keep in mind that our hospitals are a major part of our infrastructure and should be given the same, if not more, consideration as other public services especially in terms of staffing.

I am from Revelstoke and was sent to VJ to have a hysterectomy due to some internal happenings. The team here made me comfortable (I get pre surgery anxiety) they made me feel cared for, the staff overnight helping me move around, and staying with me throughout the pain and nausea were so kind. I appreciate you wonderful humans for your compassion during my weakest moments!

I was recently in the Vernon Jubilee hospital for treatment and care after a Horse Riding accident. I was pretty beat up, broken ribs, vertabrae, hip etc. I was admitted quite quickly and the care was both quick and thorough, but also the staff were truly caring; Doctor and Nurses. The only reason to not be a 5 star review is the Hospital Infrastructure itself. There are way too many patients being cared for, lack of available beds/areas in the hospital. Again, the staff were excellent!

Having undergone a knee replacement surgery about 7 weeks ago, and staying 2 nights (an extra night needed due to a fainting spell), and having not been in a hospital patient in over 40 years, I must say I was more than impressed. All the employees, from the admitting and pre-op staff, to the many medical staff (day and night), x-ray technician, physio nurses and the surgeon, were nothing but professional, kind, caring and hard-working. Their patience in dealing with so many different (and not all cooperative) patients is admirable and amazing. Each person deserves the greatest respect and the whole experience was less stressful than it might have been. Even the meals were fine, albeit a bit bland, but at least varied and adequate. My own personal experience here left me with even more respect and gratitude for the care and positive attitude these individuals who looked after me. The future may be uncertain but I am glad for what we have now.
