They could stop hiding behind their protocols and really do something to help children who are sick.

While in the emergency room (and after having been spoken to incredibly rudely by the triage nurse), my family watched a teenaged psych transfer manage to run out of the building. The staff were not paying attention to her at all, and the pair of EMS assigned to watch over her were gossiping with the nurses about their 'hot' coworkers. Absolutely horrific standards. The rest of the hospital seems lovely, but the emergency room is severely lacking in professionalism.

I wouldn’t recommend this hospital if my life depended on it. This is stupid. I have been through 2 times in the past two days with my son. Once June 23th and I sat in the waiting room from 8:50pm till 2:00am that is ridiculous for a children’s hospital, could have a kid dying in the waiting room and they don’t seem to care, got in a room and they gave my son the croup steroid and sent us on our way, no care in the world for the other problems, then went back June 24th as my son got WAY worse and sat in the waiting room from 2:00pm till 5:24pm just to be told oh it’s nothing we will give him “magic mouthwash” he can drink a bit and go home. That is what he did. Didn’t give a sh** about anything. I told them I wasn’t going home till something was done for my son and he was better but it went in one ear out the other. Wish I still lived in Calgary at least the Alberta Children’s would have done everything they could till he was better even if it meant admitting him!!! Get your crap together Stollery.

Been here 3 times in the past 4 weeks to the Stollery. Everytime they say everything is fine, give my kid more pills and off we go. They think getting kids hooked on pills is going to fix the problem. All it’s doing is making the children crave and want to use more pills. I have no hope in Alberta health care system. It’s a completely flawed system. Pills don’t fix problems,it’s creates more problems. Get these kids the proper treatment they deserve and then find out what medication will work. Just don’t medicate, say everything is fine and let them go. Do you job properly as a healthcare professional and get to the root of the problem. Pills are creating the pandemic we currently facing. Don’t waste your time here, if your child is struggling with mental health/illness. DO YOUR JOB the children deserve better!!!

first time here for my 5 month baby and when I asked for formula for him they said yeah hold on so I waited and still nothing yet my son's blacking out, unprofessional for the one who shut the door to avoid my sons cry when I asked for help🤦‍♀️ I think helping someone that is alone would be a lot MORE helpful always heard about this place from family but didn't expect this kind of disrespect, idk if it's racism or something but all I can say is don't tell someone your there for them when we need u when ur actually not

Thank you to the ER staff for today. That was the best care I’ve ever seen in an Alberta hospital. Your care and professionalism in an unusual situation made a huge difference. Your nurse instantly started to calm down my completely terrified child. They’re still skeptical, but a lot better.
