Could not care less about patients in severe pain that’s waiting in the ER

5 days ago, I had a forcep delivery and, with catheter and tailbone injury I visited hospital today . Dr Ryan made my day hell. So unprofessional, didn't even care to look after me. One staff said, dr is in meeting when I was in terrible pain and other said dr already left. I came home without knowing what would be my next step. M I going to be cured or not? Still in doubt.

Hospital was really clean, staff was great. The young doctor stitched me up real nice. The place was moderately busy, i was out in 3 hr.

Honestly no other word comes to mind other than terrible! They don’t give 2 craps abt finding the source of the issue, they just want to get the ppl out, especially if they are young and “relatively healthy” I went into the emergency room the night b4 last around 1am with severe abdominal pain with lightheaded, dizziness, and yeast infection symptoms. Literally all they did was a physical exam of my abdomen(pressing and listening with stethoscope) but the pain was more of a cramping 7/10 and felt a bit better with a bit of pressure. They game me Tylenol and a yeast infection pill. Then abt 2-3hr after arriving the pain all of a sudden got super bad11/10 to the point I was curled up hyperventilating and crying. Then they brought me anxiety meds cuz they thought I was “overreacting and being dramatic/too in my head” I told her I couldn’t take the pills because of how much pain I was in and I couldn’t even sit up, and asked if I could get meds through an IV. Then I had to raise my voice a bit after asking the nurse 3 times to get the doc cuz she straight up told me I can’t get an IV until I get blood work done. Doc came in, said I could have an IV. The meds worked enough while they were going that I was able to rest for about 2 hrs till the doc woke me up saying “I talked to the day doctor your blood came back fine, you can go home”. AND they took my blood WHILE I was sleeping or at least not fully conscious! I honestly thought they just used my iv that was alr in to take the blood. Till I got home and realized there was a bandage on the other arm with a needle mark in it!!!! I hadn’t even been awake for abt 10min when I went to stand up and the pain IMMEDIATELY came back still at a 7/10. And all they said was “your fine you can go home”. I KNEW something was wrong so I went to Victoria hospital, I did have to wait quite a while, but once I got a spot they gave me some Tylenol it didn’t even touch the pain. I had another flair up, and was curled up hyperventilating/ crying pain at 11/10 again, and they noticed within minutes, came over and asked me if it was abdominal pain, i shook my head yes. They asked if I wanted pain meds, I shook my head yes. They got a gurney, got me in a room, the doc was in within 10min they did an IV and administered meds within 20min!!! Pain subsided a bit abt 8-9/10, then had another fair up pain abt 11/10, they gave me hydro morphine because no other pain meds were helping. Abt 30min after was still at a 10-11/10. They decided to do another shot of it. And abt a hr later I was feeling better, pain abt 6/10. I had an ultrasound abt 1 1/2 hrs after. It came back clear, so they did a ct. The CT showed inflammation and infection in some on the fatty tissue in my abdomen. They IMMEDIATELY started me on antibiotics and prescribed some for home. Then was home by 1am. I will never go back to Exeter hospital unless it’s something like a deep cut that needs stitches or a possible broken bone or something or simple as they are not equipped to deal with more intense emergencies.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I don't even know where to begin. I honestly dont think these people know how to run a hospital from the reception to the doctors. I had a son born last year in november and we would go here for his ultrasounds, somhow they missed a very underlying condtion. My son has severe hydrocephalus and we didnt find it out till she was 32 weeks and the london hospital said that it should have been found way way eariler, so they misdiagnosed my son and thanks to them we could do any necessary step to help his condition before he was born. My girlfriend just went there lastnight, was there all night with pelvic pain, lightheadness. She has a IUD and had a c section last year. Alot of her symptoms are telling us its possibly sonthing with the IUD and all the doctors did was take her bloodwork and gave her advil, they made us waste a whole night when we could have just gone to london. These are not Healthcare professionals, the only thing they are good at doing is half the job if they feel like it.

I understand very well that healthcare can be tricky with wait times. We arrived at 2am and were waiting with one other person who decided to leave around 3am. 5:45am and still haven't talked to a single person. Perhaps they have good reasons, but I doubt it. Edit: Staff are impossible to find. We seem to quite literally be the only people here. Still no signs of progress: the 24 hour sign is to get more "customers. The absence of medical care here is astounding. Edit two: Dr. Is not in the building. Won't be for another hour. We sat waiting without knowing how long it would take when they knew nothing would happen. Should have driven to London. Do not waste your time here.

My mom came in here because she wasn't feeling very well. Decent hospital, good nurse, but what an actual, disgustingly rude doctor. Pills get handed to her and she throws them back in the bag. Handles patients with no care and tries to be all smart with insults. She actually ruined my night and she should be happy that she even has a job here. Moral of this review, don't get a medical degree if you don't even have the decency to be at least respectful to patients. Disgusting.

My husband spent Wednesday overnight in hospital for monitoring. He was anxious to get home, but he really appreciated the care he received while there. Many thanks to the nurses and doctors who looked after Steve! Excellent!
