“Dr Ryan Magyar and his staff are excellent. Friendly, kind and extremely knowledgeable we are lucky to have him in our community. The range of frame styles and colours are exceptional and the prices are incredibly fair. Absolutely, these guys cannot be beat ! Ten thumbs up! On another topic, I am amazed that someone posted that they felt mislead about the advice and sale of specific items needed for cataract surgery. I too was given that advice which was in fact absolutely accurate. I was referred to the Pacific Coast Eye Centre in Nanaimo. The information from them indicates that you need to use The Thealoz Duo drops 4xday and eye-wipes 1xday for three weeks prior to the appointment with the surgeon and continue until you have all the measurements taken. As of today, June 29 2025, Dr Magyar's pricing for these products match Amazon and other on-line providers. I mention this as I felt that the comments made were very unfair and may have been a result of misunderstanding.”Read moreShow less

“Truly disappointed by the up front sale of eye drops and eye wipes as prescribed by Dr. Magyar prior to visiting the ophthalmologist for cataract assessment. In fact. The very expensive package is not at all required prior to the initial assessment, nor dose it shorten the process for the cataract process as indicated by point Optical.”Read moreShow less

“My wife and I are visiting Qualicum from out of province and one of the lenses from my prescription sunglasses fell out of the frames. We went to Focal Point to see if they could help repair the sunglasses. They reinstalled the lense for me free of charge within minutes. “Over the weekend my bifocals broke and I went into qualicum at focal optometry to see if they could change lenses into another one of my frames until I get a new prescription and have more time to look at glasses - they could not however they came out with another pair of frames they put my lenses into and said “no charge”. I can see again and I just want to say thank you so much!!! The frames are even nice considering I did not pick them out myself - the customer service was exceptional and I came home able to see again clearly with no stress. “Leah assisted me with my visit today. I stopped in to get assistance with a broken frame and to select a new pair of spectacles! She was a delight to deal with - knowledgeable, helpful and caring and genuinely interested in providing exceptional service!.
