All the E.R. staff are amazing! I have been treated by the most caring staff at an exceptionally high level. Thank You!

The lab... Honestly mostly great people, especially the techs, but extremely rule-crazed. I get that 3-4pm is supposed to be appointments. That's less of a good excuse when the waiting area is literally empty and all staff are standing idle or tidying.

I want to give a heartfelt thank-you to the team at Powell River General Hospital — especially the staff on the 4th-floor psychiatric unit. During one of the most vulnerable and important seasons of my life, every single nurse, doctor, and support worker treated me with real compassion, dignity, and patience. They didn’t just “do their job” — they actually cared. They listened. They encouraged. They showed respect. They made a difficult time feel safe, grounded, and human. It’s rare to find a hospital team with this much heart and balance: professional, gentle, and genuinely invested in their patients’ healing. I’m extremely grateful for the support I received here, and I hope the leadership team recognizes how special their staff truly are. Thank you — sincerely.

I recently interfaced directly with the triage/emergency department at PRG. It was during the week that staff were implementing a new ehealth system. The department was extremely busy that day - patients in hallways/wating rooms, staff learning a new electronic ehealth system; extra "Clinical Support Staff" (CERNER support staff) hovering around the clinical area; three helicopter transfers during my 6 hour stay; an elopement risk patient (a code white event); a trauma patient; several cardiac patients.....it was BUSY and it was acute!! As an out of province patient, I must share that the care, patience, respect, and compassion the staff demonstrated across the departments were nothing short of exeptional. The Internist even took the time to teach my husband and I about the underlying pathology of my condition. I can not find enough words to express our sincerest gratitude for the level of professionalism and competence we witnessed on that given day. Thank you for your kindness, service, and commitment to your fellow human and to the system. Mutual respect to you all!!!!

My husband was diagnosed with blood poisoning and we had to visit the hospital twice a day for IV antibiotics eight times before he was sent to Lions Gate. The staff were kind and courteous at all times, waiting in emergency is no fun at any hospital but they tried to get everyone through as fast as possible and the space was available. Thank you all for your friendliness and kindness.

I am currently dying. I've had sepsis for 8 days over 2 hospitals. Nanaimo now powell river. I am currently going into septic shock and the nurse doing blood work at both hospitals have impaled my arms and wiggled them around in my veins. I'm shock white, blood is poolingincmy hands and my finger tips are purple. I decided to go out on my own terms and have left the hospital. I have not been well for many days and I believe I am about to die tonight

Aug 29th 2024 - so they decide to respond with the website that just tells you to call a number or leave an email and why they can't just put that in their response instead of adding an extra step just shows me their intelligence. Aug 21st 2024 - Talk about a stupid place to try and get medical services. Not only do you get to sit in the waiting room for 5 hours, see a doctor get told you're going to get a shot and then wait over an hour and still not get it, but the idiots won't even allow you to provide your doctor requisition for blood work by email contrary to VGH or St. Paul's or Mount St. Joseph's, they expect you to have it printed for them because, "they shouldn't have to use their printers." I don't care if I will be dead dead before I get there but I never want to see this hospital again because they're too stupid to do their job. I couldn't even get shots for syphilis because a doctor needs to sign off on it supposedly, but I went all the way down to Vancouver 4 days later. Didn't have to see a doctor and got my shots. Thanks you lazy healthcare workers.

Dr.Head is the only Dr. here with integrity the others I've been assigned violate ethics at any turn. I've heard the new ER Dr. Is decent also but am not in a rush to find out. All the nurses are great except the 1 who yells at patients for crying. I get it's a tough job but it's likely much tougher being the patient. Worst part is not 1 person knows ASL making it even tougher on the hearing and or verbally divergent.

I just had day surgery here, and my experience wasn't great but The hand full of nurses and anesthesiologist I met with were kind. I was put under and after being woken up I don't recall getting dressed or who I spoke to about after care but I wasn't able to stand or speak without slurring my words. I got wheel chaired out to the parking lot and left there. I still had monitoring stickers on my chest I'm lucky my ride saw me stumbling to stand and helped me into the car. No follow up from anyone.

I have had to take my husband to emergency twice now and myself once. In each case the staff have been great. Knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. I have not had a long wait in any of the three visits. Most importantly the doctor in each case listened carefully to my concerns, gave opinions that clearly addressed my concerns, and then acted on our joint decisions. A great hospital. Thanks to all.
