“I was looking for a new dentist in the area after my dentist retired. During my extremely expensive initial appointment, Dr. Andrew indicated that he was capable of removing the permanent wire retainer that is glued to the back of teeth post-braces. Instead of removing the glue using a solvent or drill, as he said he would, Dr. Andrew yanked my wires off! Not only did this leave all the glue on the back of my teeth, he yanked so hard that he pulled one of my front teeth out of alignment. So after having perfectly straight teeth for 20 years, I now have an extremely out of line upper smile and my confidence has been completely shattered. I hate smiling in photos and now I have to spend thousands of dollars on invisalign to correct his incompetent removal of the wire retainer meant to keep my smile straight forever. I informed the office of this issue and they did not offer to help in any way. Despite the friendly staff, I do not recommend Dr. Andrew and instead suggest finding a more experienced and knowledgeable dentist. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Waterloo West Dentistry, thank you for your reply and for confirming that Dr. Andrew and team are aware of the patient that the incorrect and irresponsible wire removal process referenced above was performed on. It is evident that Dr. Andrew and team has the contact information required to reach out to the patient via phone or email and have instead chosen not to offer to assist in any way. When the patient called and visited the office to inform and show them the misalignment that Dr. Andrew’s improper wire removal caused, there was no offer to support or rectify. The office’s response to this review is the first and only acknowledgment received, which is now noted. Most importantly, thank you for confirming that Dr. Andrew and team is aware that “tooth movement can be caused by a variety of underlying oral health conditions unrelated to orthodontic wire removal” as this verifies that Dr. Andrew is not capable of applying his dental training in-practice. Instead of removing the wire by dissolving the glue, which is the correct process, Dr. Andrew, who was aware of the “underlying oral health conditions,” chose the laziest, quickest method of wire removal, yanking manually, completely disregarding the conditions at-play and exacerbating them significantly. A competent dentist that was aware of the underlying oral health conditions at-play would have taken the time to dissolve the glue and remove the wire appropriately, thereby taking the conditions into consideration and avoiding damage. It is unfortunate that the patient is now left with thousands of dollars of orthodontic expenses due to Dr. Andrew’s ineptitude and lack of ability.”

“The team at Waterloo West Dentistry is just awesome. I had my checkup and cleaning with Dr. Darroch; he is an easygoing dentist who knows how to make patients comfortable and relaxed while performing detail-oriented work with precision and care. Dr. Yoo took care of my toddler, and I was amazed at how she was able to get my daughter relaxed and cooperative in no time at all. Her examination and cleaning was thorough yet quick, which I think any parent of a toddler knows is the best situation one can get. Any worries I had about my daughter's first dentist appointment were quickly allayed, and I can say with confidence that her first time seeing the dentist set her up for a future of positive associations with dentistry.
