“My concerns are as follows: * Scheduling is based on staff convenience rather than the patient’s needs. Care should be delivered when the patient requires it—not when it is most convenient for the PSW. This completely defeats the purpose of individualized home care. * The Porto portal continues to be unreliable. More than five months ago, I was told improvements were being made. Yet the same problems still exist, making it difficult for families to coordinate care and plan their day. * The schedule displayed in Porto is misleading. I was told it is “only a guideline” and does not reflect the actual arrival time of the PSW. Providing inaccurate scheduling information is unacceptable and creates unnecessary stress for patients and caregivers. * Communication is virtually non-existent. I was instructed to use the Porto messaging system, yet emails and messages routinely go unanswered. Advising families to use a communication tool that is never monitors is misleading and ineffective. * There is a complete breakdown in communication and protocol. Staff provide conflicting information, departments fail to coordinate, and no one appears to take ownership of resolving issues. * Complaints are not taken seriously. I am repeatedly told that someone will “look into it” and call me back. Those promises are NEVER kept. This pattern demonstrates a lack of respect and accountability toward patients and their families. * There is a culture of blame instead of accountability. Rather than focusing on resolving problems, staff spend their time pointing fingers at one another over who made the mistake. Patients should never be caught in the middle of internal dysfunction. * The patient’s voice is not being heard. There is little evidence that anyone is truly listening to or respecting the patient’s needs, routine, or dignity when decisions are made about their care. This pattern of poor service is unacceptable. Families entrust VHA Home HealthCare with the care of their loved ones, expecting professionalism, compassion, and reliability. Instead, we are met with broken promises, poor communication, inadequate follow-up, and a system that appears to prioritize operational convenience over patient care. I expect assurance that someone will “look into it.” I need results. However result that does NOT consist of making schedule worst!!!!!!!! Patients deserve better. Families deserve better. It is time for VHA Home HealthCare to be held accountable and to deliver the standard of care it promises in their web description. I gave a 2 stars because there are 4 PSW that are amazing and a coordinator (M.Moore) but unfortunately they are not with a company that reflects their professionalism!! SO DISAPPOINTING and frustrating.”Read moreShow less

“I received home care nursing support for over two months due to hyperemesis gravidarum, and overall I had a very positive experience with most of the team. My veins were extremely difficult to access, and many people struggled with IV insertion. However, Nurse Arezoo was exceptional—very professional, kind, and patient. She consistently took great care of me and made a difficult situation much more manageable. When Arezoo was unavailable, Nurse Jamal provided care, and he was also very skilled and compassionate. I also had a good experience with Sammy, who was attentive and supportive. Thank you to VHA for having such dedicated and capable nurses. During a very challenging time when I was extremely weak, their patience and expertise truly helped me get through it. Unfortunately, I did have a negative experience with Nurse Dawn. Her behavior was unprofessional and upsetting. During one visit, she complained about my living area and insisted that I walk from my basement to another location despite clearly seeing my condition—I was experiencing severe vomiting and dizziness and could barely stand. Her attitude lacked empathy, and she ultimately did not provide the care I needed. In such vulnerable moments, patients deserve respect, understanding, and support, not added stress. Overall, I am grateful for the care I received from the majority of the team, but I hope feedback like this helps improve patient experience for everyone.”Read moreShow less

“My mother is 96 years old and resides in a retirement home, midtown Toronto. All of the VHA staff who visit her provide excellent care and are very compassionate. We are now confident that she takes her meds on a regular basis, recharges her hearing aids, brushes her teeth, etc - everything that is on the list. Although we visit our mother several times a week, we feel like a burden/worry has been lifted off our shoulders. Mom also enjoys seeing the VHA PSWs every day as they are so kind.”Read moreShow less

“I am suprised to see negative reviews. VHA, arranged through Toronto Health at Home, has been nothing but fantastic for us. From the coordinators to the PSWs, we are thrilled and appreciative. Our care providers, Tawagaw and Saba, are superior. They both provide exceptional showers and bathroom cleanup post showers. I Highly recommend VHA! Thank you. 💖”Read moreShow less

“I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by VHA Home Healthcare. It is clear they operate on a profit-driven model rather than a client-centered one. They seem to waste significant funding on unnecessary research and constant management restructuring instead of investing in frontline care. This approach has led to a workforce of inexperienced clinicians and health care workers who are underpaid and subjected to high-pressure environments. The result is predictable: extreme burnout, a staggering turnover rate, and, ultimately, poor quality of service for vulnerable clients. Management appears indifferent to client concerns, prioritizing their bottom line over safety and care. I strongly urge any clients or families who have experienced inferior service to write to their local MPP office. I am also starting an online petition to be sent to Premier Doug Ford’s office and Health Critic Lee Fairclough regarding the risks VHA poses to public safety. This agency needs to be held accountable.”Read moreShow less

“I have been bringing my dad to this clinic for a few months, and while some staff have been helpful, there was one nurse who was very disrespectful today. Unfortunately, our experience with the nurse Queenie was extremely disappointing. The nurse Queenie was very dismissive, did not allow my mom to fully ask questions, and barely examined my dad’s wound before removing the bandage and saying he no longer needed to return. The appointment felt rushed and lacked proper assessment or explanation. When I went back in to clarify concerns about my dad’s discharge and what we should monitor moving forward, I received the same dismissive response. My parents are older and you would at least expect respect, clear communication, and especially patience. We left feeling unheard and uncomfortable. I sincerely hope Nurse Queenie sees this review and reflects on how she approaches and communicates with her patients. Compassion, patience, and respect are essential in healthcare, and patients deserve to feel heard and properly cared for.”Read moreShow less
